around old church permission- they were my dream finds - at first dug up 1940 penny after 4 hours of the hunt (with a large share of false hope box nail targets I'm sure are very old too) but not more than 10 minutes after that I dug up the 1910 silver dime which was the cream on the cake

I found this 19th century choir clothes hanger too, will post later

both @ 6" deep soil was very dry

hope anyone sheds some light on the value of the coins

on the Manticore, I don't know ..... the machine lets one down with the rusted nails.....but then rewards patience

for the record & for the first time I found pre 1950 coins, there's a time for everything

Destroyed my knees doing this hunt though!, it appears that because this was a find on a permission, these old coins would be found mainly on permissions. Two old coins in 88 coins since last year October since I started stats, (2/88)x100 =2.3 %. Or if you consider the 1910 coin only as old, 1.25% chance to find one in 10 months time! (1.04% chance per year!). Very slim🤣

Private property is a very good place to get permission on. If out in the public areas, try to think outside the box. You've detected the new ball field. Where was the old one? Old pathways no longer used, very small chunks of land where people used to or still use to travel through or just stand, like a bus stop or where the kids used to play. Any sledding hills to tect? Any water recreation areas?
It's still out there and if it was easy everyone would do it.
That dime you found would have me wanting to try again, for sure, and if no nice silver coin, at least you got some exercise and enjoyed the outdoors. That is assuming you get the knees back in line. Enjoying is absolute necessity. Have fun!

Because since the time I kept a record which is October last year, the two old coins are 2 in 88 which is roughly 2.3%, if you consider only the 1910 as old, then the find rate is 1.15%, and that is in 10 months, in a year dividing by 1.2 I get 0.95%, say 1% chance, very small indeed. But a whole lot better than the lottery🤣. The stats may differ from person to person, but for me this was my second permission out of about 10 to 15 different places I detected.

Thanks, it came off halfway during the hunt, the extreme focus and the time constraint I had made me overlook going to find the knee pad I use for my right knee only…to my detriment. Black ‘n’ blue knee!

Thanks man, thank God the guy who detected the field before me missed those two spots, he’d been over this field like 4 or 5 times, so I heard from a neighbour property, the Manticore got them though! The permission was tough to get.

Thx, while the Manticore found the two coins the copper and the silver, my eyes always glued on the conductivity line, how much is a Manticore user missing on gold or non-conductive coins like those made of nickel or stainless?
