Northwest Missouri river bank find. My persistence paid off finally. Found the small point last night. The blade in the middle the night before. The one to the right(whatever it is)was found 4 nights ago. All of these were found within 50 yards of each other. The side of the river i found these on has a sand bank, at an angle upstream almost directly across is where a creek empties into the river. I think these are coming out of the creek, or at the bank where the creek joins the river. Does anyone have any idea what type of point it is? Could the gray piece be a preform, or an odd blade?

Nice finds (and someone will pipe in shortly to help you figure out the type of point) BadAdze. Thanks for sharing...

Nice, You never forget your first.

It's been 41 yrs since my first, and I can still see it as it was.

Congrats!
It kinda looks Hopewell ..Adena Mabey I don't know your area real well.
The last piece looks like a work in progress ..like a blank/perform.. then when the bottom broke it wasn't used.
I would bet the main site is real close to where you found those not across the river.
Especially if the bottom is sandy.
It sounds like it would be a good campsite directly across from that Creek Especially if They utilized that Creek for hunting.

I bet you find a bunch of them now. Great find.

Thanks guys!! I am so stoked to go back i could not sleep. Gator, im gonna take a picture of the site to let you see what im working with.

Great! I'm happy for you!
Sometimes whole collections can come from one good site.
Be sure to turn off the G.P.S. on your phone before you take and post photos of the spot.. if you're using a phone.

You did very well. The one on the far right is broken at the base? Hard to know what is was before the break.

Awesome Finds! I'm happy that you found your first point, and a really cool looking knife. Congratulations!

Great Job B.A.,
You have some great finds, congrats...
Your on to something pretty cool, love that knife.
Steve

great finds, finds like that make you keep your eyes on the ground.

Being a water-oriented person myself, I'd say you're onto something. I always find them on 'the wash-up'- whether where creeks/streams/rivers join, or where high water- for whatever reason- pushes the sand and gravel/rock high. Great finds- and you will find more. I know it. Yakker ;)

You have worked hard for those. Well done. Fun to go back thousands of years in your hunts isn't it?. Congrats!!!

No rains in any amount here to turn the rivers yet. But I think i did find something else. I will see if i remembered to take pictures and post another thread.

Like to see the other side of that center one looks like Dover chert

That was a good week you had. I hope you put the 3 together in a small frame. Its always fun to look back and see your first finds.

Both sides of the knife, not very pretty, but I will always remember the feeling i had when i spotted it and reached down and picked it up.

Go get another one. After you find another one you will feel better. Each time you find one it is like finding your first all over again. 8-)

Doesn't look like Dover chert in that pic but very nice finds you should keep looking in that spot bet you will find more than 3 more ;)
