New to the site, these are my finds from this past year working as a teller:

19 90% Halves: 3-walkers, 3-bens, 7-1964's, 8 silver proofs
21 40% Halves
169 Quarters, including 1 dateless Standing Liberty
1 40% Bicentennial Quarter
78 Dimes, including 7 Mercury
23 Nickels

I work as a Teller in NJ. I don't really coin roll hunt except for the occasional few rolls I open each day at work.

Lots of silver quarters. I bet that's what a teller sees most of.

What do you think about the story of the teller unwrapping whoel boxes of halfs at a time to snipe the silver? Also, I was expecting a Christmas bikini photo, not silver porn.

I just was talking to a teller in a branch when I was dumping a few days ago, he asked me if I looked through the halves I was bringing in, I told him not to waste his time. I asked if he was a collector too, he said yes, I asked him how he did, he said he did really good from the convenient stores drop off with quarters and dimes. He had also just got 3 rolls of silver quarters just a few days before and bought them. You definetly have a great opportunity as a teller, thats for sure! Nice pile there too! HH, Maverick.

That's some nice finds. So much for the dumb teller scenario! LOL! More power to ya, if I worked as a teller and was aloud to cull while working I would do the same. Just glad your not in my area!

I talked to my co-worker who works at a local bank branch and she says that they aren't allowed to go through their change and such looking for silver. For one, there are cameras and if caught, they are fired and two, they don't have the time to be looking for silver. I have asked her again and again in different ways and she gives me the same answer. I have been to this bank and find it a bit sterile and hard-nosed. If you can't have a bit of fun at work there is just no reason to be getting out of bed. That's why I love being a cashier. I get to check out all the coinage.

Nice collection! My wife is a loan officer/teller, and snags nice coinage from time to time. The other young tellers are clueless and really show no interest in anything that might cross the counter.

I think tellers can CRH without losing their jobs. Recently I deposited a bunch of rolled halves and the teller was so happy. She said she was going to exchange them with another teller for different money and then withdraw them from her own account using the other teller. So that's one way they can do it. Of course, she wasn't going to find any silver in that batch.

You cant necessarily CRH being a teller. But you can certainly cherry pick if you buy the coins from the bank.

It surprises me that you found as many quarters as you have with them being more rare than other denominations.

The only silver rejected by the coin counters are Silver Quarters. You would be surprised as to how many people do not check the reject tubes.
Silver Dimes and Halves are accepted by the coin counter. The silver peace dollar I found in the machine was too big to even get in the reject tube. We have a few people who dump at our branch, so when there is a few halves in the bag I always check to see if they contain silver. If they do, I swap them out with another half dollar. All the halves I found (19 90% and 21 40%) were found in the bags

Theres a guy at td that takes all the funny money and silver and sells it on feebay he showed me. Thats not right. I hate banks they will suck the life out of you when your down. Am about to hirt them big time AGAIN!!

I didn't think you could check the reject tube without someone opening the machine - just the reject tray. Maybe that's what you meant. There's often something in the reject tray.

not exactly.. the reject tube is what is between the reject tray and the rejected coins.. the rejected coins wont get to the reject tray unless it is on properly
