After finding the TALLIO cufflinks last month and having not been able to get out since then I seized the opportunity this morning to get a hunt in at the site that has been our go to place for a year now. Yesterday at the site, my son on a solo hunt, wanted to try out his new T2 detector and he was rewarded with BUCKSHOT for his first retrieval. :D However, he did get his second colonial copper for the year with his new detector not long afterwards a beat up Old Head style King George II Halfpenny.

So, I decided to go the site and hunt the opposite side from where he hunted and within the first five minutes I got the sweet sound a of coin, the crosshairs gave a no doubt about verification on the visual ID and dug and in the pile was a pretty scuzzy looking copper, but sure made my morning, especially getting one so quickly. Well, as I got up after retrieving the coin, I ended up having to cut the hunt short after my back decided time to head home rather abrutly, so I swallowed my pride and aborted the hunt after less than an hour total hunting time. Sure it will be OK by weeks end to try again, since Mother Nature is now starting to be a good girl!

So here is the view where from where the coin was found

Beautiful copper!!!

Great coin and cleaning!!! Thanks for sharing :icon_thumright: I can relate to the back trouble, but sometimes the obsession out-ways the malady :laughing9: When mine is out I still have to give it a try, even if it involves calling a local crane company to get me up off the ground :tongue3:

SUPER NICE COPPER WTG

That is the way to start off the 2011 Colonial season, Don. :headbang: Hit it hard until the signals no longer pop. :icon_thumleft:

Congrats, Don, on a nice NJ copper and your first copper to boot! I could dig state coppers all day long!

Good luck on your return trip! That ground looks nice and soft. :laughing9:

Ditto

Don, Congrats on the NJ copper and I hope your back feels better. If the Farmers Almanac is correct we should have 60 degree weather in early March...I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Tired of this snow.

Thanks Steve, this is number 16, we don't get as many as some of the guys up in the county or two north of me, the big farms there seemed to have produced quite a few over the years, but even my 16 is hard to achieve, I believe my son, who has hunted the same areas as long as I have , has found only 3, but he has a decent number more Conn coppers than I do, so tic for tac.
Back will get better and I wil be going for #17 hopefully by weeks end. :)
