So I took my first dive with the new Excal II at the local lake swimming dock. Went real well in that I was primarily focusing on just getting used to the situation of using the detector while diving. Only complaint is that even with my volume maxed, it is still difficult to hear the detector's tones in detail up against my exhaust bubbles and poorly equalized ears. I find myself holding my breath (which is a diving no-no) while zeroing in on the target. I suppose it is just a matter of practice. My question is how do we know if the Excal II is fully charged? Outside of using a voltmeter to check the battery voltage, is there another way to know or do people just plug it in after use and charge it for the night or what? I just don't want to damage the battery or run out of juice unexpectedly. What do you guys do?
Thanks in advance!

I had the same issue, albeit with a SEAHUNTER 2.
I changed my headphones to Grey Ghost Amphians but before that I had to learn a system of swinging the coil to coincide with breathing.

You'll get it eventually!

Mine is loud enough to hear underwater with stock muffs, but I dig everything, so interpreting tones is not important to me.

i just charge mine over night.

Junky is correct - The stock headphones are plenty loud and you should retrieve every signal you get.
Plug in your charger the night before your dive and let it charge all night. You will not outlast your Excals battery.
I dive 2 -3 times a week and do this ritual every time.
