First hunt of the new year; Didn't get much, but did get a first.

I went out today even though there's still about 2 inches of snow and about an inch of ice on that. Despite that the ground is really soft. This snow just won't melt, though! Anyway it was slow going for about an hour and a half. This site is about dry, but I did manage a first, which was a 1937 buffalo nickel. Only other good find was a flat button. I only found one old nickel last year(1897 V nickel) so maybe this is a sign of what's to come, hopefully many more firsts. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Nice finds. I went out today also. Across the river there is still enough snow on the ground to hamper detecting. At least the ground is not frozen.
