Well I dusted off the trusty old CZ-70 yesterday and hit one of my local haunts. Before I left I called up one of my hunting buds to see if he could go but he couldn't make it. So off I went with hopes of at least a Merc or an IH. I felt I would find some thing special while starting my search. The first target was a 1910 wheatie, then things kind of went downhill, no good items for about three hours.

I then got an odd signal I don't normally get with the CZ, so I knew I had to check it out. I dug down about eight inches, nothing in the dirt or hole so I pulled out the Vibraprobe, when I stuck the probe in about 3 1/2 to 4 inches into the East side of the hole I got a signal. Carefully scraping away the dirt I could then see a round silverish item resting at nearly a 45 degree angle. Now for some reason I wasn't thinking silver dime, but beavertail tab, probably due to the signal recieved by the CZ. Well I popped her out and there she was, an 1853 Seated Liberty dime!

I think I just sat there slack jawed for a few moments, then called it a day. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Awesome suprise, congrats!!!!!!!!

Congrats on a great find! 1853 seems to be the most common Seated date found in both dimes and half dimes. If I had more energy, I'd go look up the mintage :D.
