Well convinced the wife to go out and hike with me and the kids today. we hit a old cellar hole and found three buttons and a thimble.we then hiked further down the trail and found a old looking area , lots of really old maples and thick stone walls. as we are hiking back i turn on the detector and within 5 mins i get a Solid 25 cent hit. i dig it up in about in of dirt.i pull it out and its a coin!finally!!!!as it dried in my wife fleece jacket it started shedding the layer of dirt. got home and ran it under the faucet and found it to be a 1838 large cent! very cool i cant wait to get back out.

Congrats . very nice. My first old coin was an 1838 lc in great shape also. They had good copper that year I guess! I have since found 8 more LCs none in that kind of shape or even close. Yours is in great cond. AND has little wear and that's a great combo! :notworthy:
