The snow was flying this afternoon but I decided to give a spot I’ve pounded a shot anyway hoping the winter weather knocked down the weeds. When I arrived the snow was just starting to stick but just like I’d hoped the weather had the cheatgrass laying down. The field I checked has an old large stairway going down between two roads. I haven’t been able to get the coil near the stairs. Always overgrown with weeds, until today! Half way down the stairwell and a little off the side I get that sweet high tone and a 34/35 VDI. Check it in a couple directions and I’m 99% sure I’ve got a half! Pop the plug and then dig a little deeper and out comes my first Walker!

5 minutes and I’ve got silver! I left after about 10 minutes as the snow really started coming down and it was heavy wet sticky snow that was making swinging the coil difficult. 01391E6D-071C-40D8-8526-77EFAA35DF38.webp

One of the coolest looking coins we ever made and to get in such a quick hunt must have felt awesome!!! Question as a resident of Carson city do you have any greater chance of finding CC silver coins by living there?

I don’t think so. I’m not sure how the coins went from the mint into circulation. I’ve only found 4 silver coins in Carson and only one is a seated and it’s pretty toasted. I’ve met a couple people that have pulled CC quarters near here. One valued at $135,000 K. It was sent for evaluation. Found about an hour from CC. For me, I’m looking for that 1873CC dime!

Very nice! Congrats!

I love seeing big silver come out of the ground. Congrats on the Walker!

Very interesting... especially a 135,000 dollar quarter! My way of thinking is that banks there would be stocked by the carson city mint and would flow from there into the hands of the public. I bet some peoples yards have some pretty good cc's in them... but that's all just guessing.
