Re: FISHING & DETECTING..........INFO ADDED, NEED HELP?

I need some advice from the USA on fishing spots (not fussy where). I am looking for a holiday that combines fishing (NOT fly fishing or fishing for trout) but for large catfish, bass or Tarpon etc.. Heres the hard bit, it needs to be on a working cattle range as the wife (to be) is a horse nut. Or have very advanced riding nearby or the fishing nearby.

Any suggestions please put a link to the site?

Cheers

Re: FISHING & DETECTING..........INFO ADDED, NEED HELP?

There's a place here in Wisconsin called "woodside ranch", they do trail rides(on horseback), and all kinds of other stuff. It's set up like an old fashoned western "dude" ranch, actually pretty neat. Not far from there(20 miles or so) is the Wisconsin River. 'bout 2 years ago I got a 50+ pound flathead cat out of that river. There aren't a lot of BIG ones in there, but some of 'em will easily break 50lb mono. If you think about heading this way, drop me a PM.

P.S.- you should be able to google search for the resort website, I don't know how to post a link.

Re: FISHING & DETECTING..........INFO ADDED, NEED HELP?

Lake Texoma is 89,000 acres (at normal level) and has 580 miles of shoreline and is the #1 Striper Bass fishery in the nation. The lake is known for the fishery but they offer several horseback riding facilities. Lake Texoma lies on the border of two states and has produced state record blue cats in both Texas and Oklahoma(the better half). The last time I went we set jug lines and then went after striper for a couple of hours. After chasing striper around the lake we would check the juglines then repeat the process until we were tired. In the summer time you can catch both species 24 hours a day and there are also guides for both species. I have included a link to a guide that caters anglers too both species. I also attached pictures of a 120 pound Texas record, a 116 pound Oklahoma record and a 32 pound record striper.

Re: FISHING & DETECTING..........INFO ADDED, NEED HELP?

Tuarus here and I love to fish, salt or fresh doesn't matter. I'll have to admit I do better md'ing than fishing but I'm also a little picky on the type of fish I'm going after. With md'ing doesn't matter if it's clad or gold rings...it's all fun (I'd prefer more gold though...not that I'm picky or anything.)

Libra, I guess I would have to say I love fishing a little more than Mding but that is only because I have fished since I was knee high to a grasshopper. My favorite fishing site is Lake Champlain and I like to fish for Large and small mouth bass and crappie
On my really good days I love to md, I mostly coin shoot but we have some older homes in town so I do a little relic hunting and it's not unusual for me to be seen getting a funny look from many a passer byers

Gemini, Love to Hunt, Fish, Camp out, Jeeping, if there is mud involved, I'm there.
Maybe I should change my login to MudMonkey, it would fit!!
Just started detectoring about 10 days ago, this is the only thing I have ever found more fun than shark fishing!!!
It's a lot more agrevating (SP?), but when it all works out, it's good!!!!!!
I used to think owning a Jeep was cool (I have an 81 CJ7 that I brought back from the dead), but this El Cheapo MD
has really messed my life up (In a good way)

Monkeyboy (who may be the MudMonkey before too long)
