i got out with a few members of the club this afternoon to a park that Skierbob told me about last year. it had been a boy scout camp back in the woods roughly from the 40s up to the early 60s or so. finds can be scarce there, but if you really slow down and dig those iffy signals there is still good stuff to be found. the first thing i found was a 44 Washington Quarter and a 1917 Merc in the same hole. right after that i got a really deep signal and out pops this beautiful colonial shoe buckle! i wish i has a camera because the scan doesn't do it justice, its fully intact! if anyone (especially you Buckleboy!) knows anything about an approximate age on this buckle i sure would like to hear about it! after that i got a pretty good cluster of signals and out comes 5 nickels, a no date Buffalo, a 45 War Nickel, and three older Jefferson's. i think i dug a 44 wheat cent as well. then, a little later on i got another Mercury Dime! all in all it was a great day in the woods! Bob and the others also made some cool finds but i will let them post on their own. one other thing....be carefull of the damn deer ticks because i picked two off of me while i was hunting. ::) they are still active. anyway, thanks for looking!

Wow, great finds  I wish I could find a Silver coin. All in time I suppose.

WTG Red, those complete buckles are nice, it looks like yours still works, I have one identical to it, believe mid to late 1700's, perhaps a tad later, but whatever, great find.

HPR-- NICE WORK dude! Way to go with the buckle and the silver. That turkey and stuffing is good detecting fuel.

Awesome finds,
I am thinking the shoe buckle is in the 1740 to 1785 range.

Great find! You don't find intact shoe buckles every day!!

Keith,

You did a lot better than I thought. Wow! You've kinda taken that place over. I didn't see any deer ticks, but I did see a few droppings. I also saw a couple of does running across the top of a ridge. I guess I'm gonna have to take a shower now and check myself all over.
Congrats again.

Bob

i think i got lucky more than anything else Bob! most of the coins came from spills. this is by far the best day i have ever had up there! this is one of those spots you have to be carefull about though and not hit it too hard all at once. i think its better to go there once in a while and have a shot at finding stuff instead of nailing it every weekend until it stops producing. again i have to thank you for showing it to me. make sure you check for ticks cause i definitely found a couple. at least i saw the bastards before they bit me!

AWSOME Buckle......that there is one sweet find, That type of buckle is pretty high on my list to recover...

Great Job...TnT
