The weather cooperated a little today, in that it wasn't real hot with high humidity, so decided to go and try one of my old favorite haunts. I've been over this place a number of times, but after trying some of the settings that I've been reading about on the DFX, I thought that I would go see what my favorite hunted out area would come up with. Things started out slowly, but after about 20 minutes, I get this stange reading, but a steady beep, which let me to believe I should dig this item. It was at about 6 inches. After cleaning out the hole, and running lots of dirt thru the old fingers, I come across a nice little eagle item. At one time, it had a pin of some type on the back, but it is long gone now, but other than that, it has held up pretty well. I have no idea as to what it is, or what it went on. I'm guessing that it's from the turn of the century (1900's). It is very small. It will lie inside of a Lincoln penny.

Kept going, and after about another hour, I got a real good strong signal at about 7 inches, and after digging, it turned out be be closer to 9, out pops this gorgous silver ring. So, I guess the old saying is still true. It's never completely hunted out.

Hope all of you had a good day too, and hope all have a happy, bang up, 4th.

I am guessing that the bird was part of a hatpin from the turn of the century. Nice ring!

I would have, if there had been any big trees. As for the Valley Road, I have no idea as to where that would be at.

Lol, I thought I would mess you you a little bit so I looked up "Piedmont Park" in Lincoln because you named your pics Piedmont park so I assumed you found them there, then went to google earth as I often do and saw some big trees in the North West corner of the park (behind the high school). I was waiting for you to see that I was from California and wonder how i know about trees in your park :tongue3: Guess my cute little prank backfired on me!

Yeah, you were messing with me. I did see that you were from California, but just guessed that you had lived here at one time or other. The park name is correct, but the big trees that you were seeing, are in peoples yards, and not in the park. The park is just a big open area, and the only trees in it are along the sidewalk on the north side, and there is one out in the center of the park. This time of year, it's just too da** hot to spend much time out in the open area hunting. And, oh by the way, I did check under the trees on the north end earlier this year. This park rests right next to a school, so it always has kids going thru it.

Hope you are a little cooler there, and finding lots of goodies. :icon_sunny:
