Hi all,

I thought I'd just come up with the usual finds at a typical school playground, but just before I left I dug this up.

BULLET1.jpg

What's more frightening is that it was a misfire..the firing pin had already struck the cartridge but the bullet never fired..looks like it was actually struck twice.

BULLET2.jpg

This may very well mean there could have been a loaded gun on school property, rather than finding a single bullet some kid may have taken to school (which is bad enough).

Has anyone else found any kind of weapon/ammunition on school grounds? I guess it just refects the times we live in..pretty sad.

I dig a lot of those out in the woods.

It is sad knowing that some dudes get pleasure in killing innocent animals. :(

Contact the school or local law enforecment and show them what you found - i would think in this day & time they'd be super interested in it

Nat. I would definately notify school officials. There's just way too many morons out there.

Yeah I found a 380 round not too long ago in a school lot. I gave it to the principle and his exact words were "I knew he had brought bullets for the gun."

Didn't ask, didn't want to know.

Guess those type of jerks are all over. >:(

I thought this was a Treasure forum, not private views of eating meat, wheather you buy it in a store,or harvest it yourself...........

Yeah that threw me off a bit..but to stay on topic, my post was meant to show what shouldn't be found on a playground.

A live round found in the woods doesn't surprise me, I've found some left behind by hunters in areas hunting is permitted.

I am planning to notify the school.

Of course if you are an old bozo like me, well...In the highschool I attended in the early 60's we could take our hunting rifles, shotguns etc, and keep them in our locker. Then after school, we could go straight to the bird fields or the deer stand. Every male student had a folding knife in a pocket, and for the life of me, I cannot remember anyone ever pulling a knife another student. Good times long past!!!

Ahmen, the good ole days,I found 3 spent, 9mm bullets on the pitches mound at my local school, and a carpet knife in the chips at the playground............

Kirk,
I don't agree. While hunting includes the killing of prey, over the last century there has emerged strict sets of regulations (administered state-by-state by wildlife agencies) to limit the hunters' take of an animal and a voluntary code of ethics that includes making sure that animals don't suffer unnecessarily as a result of anything the hunter may do. Hunters have also worked hard and dramatically improved their safety record over the last 50 years, making hunting one of the safest outdoor activities. Also, hunters and anglers purchase licenses, stamps and tags and the license fees go to manage fish and wildlife. This user-paid method of paying for wildlife management is part of the "North American Model of Wildlife Management." This model holds that wildlife agencies hold wildlife in the public trust for the benefit of all citizens. In addition hunters donate hundreds of millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of hours of their time to undertake projects that benefit game animals and all wildlife.

Sounds like what I found on the school grounds. A used pot pipe. I didn't know what it was until I asked a friend of mine that is a police officer. I gave it to him to dispose of it. At 66 I didn't want to get stopped with it in my car LOL. Would be just my luck. Grandpa found with a pot pipe in his car

Liked what you started with this thread Nat! To bad it kinda went off course! Finding bullets or needles or crack pipes in our schools and tot lots is a sad statement on what's going on!
