I've been on this forum for a while now and this is not my first post. But, this is my first time posting photos and this find is a first for me.
Nate (dirtdigger 1581) and l headed out for a morning relic hunt this past Friday. Nate returned a favor by letting me take his A/T Pro for a ride and threw in his extra Garrett Pin Pointer and a freshly cut soy bean field. I just showed up not anticipating much outside of the usual great time that we have hanging out getting our addiction fix. Usually it's at the beach with the beautiful weather and scenery and this day it was the only thing that we love as much or better,
"Relic "Hunting".
Nate was killing me, as usual, for the first couple of hours with at least one old button, a union "star end rivet or pin" of some sort, a Indian Head penny, several Buffalo nickels and l don't know what other trinkets!
I had my good share of aluminum scraps, three railroad spikes, a few shotgun she'll ends, a broken buckle, some 22 ca. shells and bullets and some other CRAP!
Then l got this nice sounding 70 on the A/T. I'm not looking for much, maybe just one of those "Buffalo's" or a crusty half a button would be good. Well, l popped out a 6"-8" plug and out pops this 1773? or 1775? Carolus lll 1/2 reale! This thing is ugly! It's bent and worn nearly beyond recognition.
Being ugly and all l had to trek across the field and let Nate check it out to help me ID it. I did and he did and we went back to hunting and that was our day.
I love relic hunting and finding old bottles and points but l've dreamed of finding Spanish silver since l was a kid, you know "Real Pirate Treasure". I didn't find a cache' or a treasure chest but on this hunt l finally found what l've been looking for.
WHAT A THRILL!
THANKS, NATE!
