Hello Everyone :hello:
I decided to take the plunge and start using Headphones yesterday :sign13:
It's like using a new detector, the sounds are totally different, but you sure get a better 'look' into what's down there
I will have to say it makes recovery of signals a lot more time consuming, using the speaker, I can usually dig my target without putting the detector down.
No more digging 150 targets in 3-4 hours :P
I was hunting the 1770 meetinghouse and militia training grounds.
Really soft ground, any metal sinks deep quickly, I opened the sensitivity and scanned the forest in all metal, nothing but recent casings and some lead.
discovered a stone 'Corral', this was full of iron, so I switched to TTF mode.
recovered a heel plate, a 'horn cap' (is this the correct term ?)
And :o A Coin :o , it's been a while :laughing7:
figured it was a fattie, so I carefully wrapped it in a leaf & headed home.
looks to be an 1860 pointed bust.
just sprayed it with water, dried & dipped in oil.
Toasted, this area is pretty acidic Pine soil.
Whether the scrape came from my shovel or other metal/rocks during recovery I'm not sure, (heck, I'll take the blame :-[ )
I found an 1863 last year in better condition :D
From what I've read, these are the same alloy (88/12 cupronickle) as the Flying Eagle Cents. they don't look like the same metal to me :icon_scratch:
must be the different ground conditions.
last photos are also a 'todays find', plucked it off my shoulder after it had gotten a pretty good meal, I squeezed him & he popped like a bubble wrap & squirted blood 3 feet onto the wall :o
They're out up here in NH with snow still on the ground !
Thanks for looking & Great Digs to All

Wow that tick nearly drained you, looks like that tick was on a three day binge. I'm originally from CT and grew up plucking those things off of me on a daily basis.

I only use headphones when I have a bud tecting with me, I do not like surprises in the middle of the pine forest.

Sick and disgusting parasites are a given and for it to get that much dinner it had to be on you for a few days in a less sensitive area like the top of your shoulder . Those &@$#@rds jump from trees like airborne rangers . I use Deep Woods Off and still had 4 biters on my last hunt in March :icon_scratch: Bad time of year for woods hunting is all I can figure . Be careful out there killer :violent1: ;D

Wow, just imagine alll the finds you were missing without phones dude.

And don't let Felinepeachy see that tick. :D (she hates ticks)

I rarely use headphones because I mostly hunted alone before Dman and Josh started hunting with me and it was important that I knew what was going on around me as I was hunting remote wooded areas. We usually don't use headphones with the F75s but Dman does with the SE. I know about the ticks and they usually leave me alone (too sour I guess-LOL) but I got a big one off my back last night. I have a friend who I started hunting with and he hunted all one summer and contracted Lyme disease. Be careful, good finds, and HH, Quindy.

peachy best be glad ticks and spiders do not cross breed .--- a fast moving blood sucker that likes humans --ouch.

I always use headphones. When hunting around others I leave on side off or almost off so I can hear the others when they have a good find. Here is a good tick removal trick. Dab a cotton ball in liquid soap and dab on the critter. They will come right off. I hate those things.

Mike, I look at it this way,
All my 'hunted out' sites are now ready for a new go with the headphones :hello2:
Anyone had good experience with a wireless setup ??
all I've heard are sob stories so far :help:

Ticks are sick carnivores. Nasty things , they are. Luckily you found it before you needed a blood transfussion :laughing7:
