Found a water resistant Fujifilm camera in the water today at the beach in Treasure Island. I cleaned the camera and down loaded all the photos. In the card was a video of the family getting into a rental car at the airport in Tampa. Someone took the video of the car and I got the tag number. While they were filming the car door opened and I saw the reverse sign of Alamo. I called Alamo in Tampa and gave the tag number and told the person the story of finding the camera. Owner of the camera called me crying to thank me for finding it. She and her husband were celebrating her son's 15th birthday and brought him to fla to see Disney and go to the beach , taking surfing lessons. Returning the camera tomorrow morning!!

Some real good detective work there Les! What are the odds that they would have ever seen that camera again? Slim!

Way to track em down Les...I keep telling anyone who will listen that this hobby is awesome. You never know what a day of detecting will bring...its an adventure...nice return.

Thanks , I am very happy on locating the owner. It took some work but it payed off. i also thank Alamo for taking the time to listen to me.

Really bring a tear to your eye when you hear a story like that. Always good to know there are still honest people left in the world. Great Job.

nice one Les, once my wife and I found an expensive video camera with about 10 years of family pics on many discs in a case - on a table in a national park, we put it in our bag to hand it in at the local cop shop - but two miles into our hike a frantic teenager comes running down the track squealing that he had lost his Dad's camera - the look on his face was so cool when we produced it, we went hiking for two hours and y'know that family waited for us in the carpark to get back, they were tourists from Canada - they applauded us as we emerged from the scrub - hilarious - "come stay at our place in Canada etc" - priceless.

Great detective work, Les! Good for you!

Great return Les! Just one of the things that makes detecting so rewarding. Nice story and good karma.

You are right Les a lot of people just wouldnt have put in any effort to help you for just a camera return.

WTG Les, that was a nice thing to do. Happy ending. HH

Nice job! Columbo and Mr. Holmes would be extremely proud of your observations and your steadfast pursuit of the culprit who lost that camera. Very cool indeed!
