Wow........messy desk.

Hahaha just kidding that is really amazing

:icon_scratch: but nice find

nice shape , almost every old barn I stumble across have major roof leaks and soggy contents that are rusted beyond repair , like the Olds 442 convertible I saw a few years ago , still a good parts car but roached .. your sword must have been a good roof barn .. hope there a more goodies in that place

Killer find...............What luck!!!......................HH

Your sword looks similar to a US Model 1860 Staff Officers sword, but the scabbard is a lot more elaborate than most, and I think might be Medical Corps from the hardware, but I have no idea if it's an original or not. Keep us posted I'd like to know how it turns out.

Here's a close match scroll down to the "Indian Wars" section and check out the second and third listings : http://www.gundersonmilitaria.com/swordad.html

Nola you are most correct, I was just at Gettysburg today and was looking at swords, as I am doing some research on blade styles before I forge a blade for a friend. And I saw one that looked almost like yours. Same medical motif on the scabbard.
