Hello! Had a interesting morning. Have had a of of rain recently, with a lot of erosion occurring in the front yard. Not only do we live on a hill that has previously been landscaped a total of 3-5 feet of digging to lessen the steep grade, but it's also right by a known river that a Indian tribe traveled around. Near about 1 mile from another known campsite. We can't seem to figure out if this specific axe is that old, or just very eroded. We also found what seems to be wooden structures below the ground, if we can figure out the age of this axe we'll look into digging around the structures. Anyone want to help me figure this treasure out? a lot 15927534372474054110640690990588.jpg

The piece looks to be curved, why do you think it's an ax head?

Hi Carl! I didn't show the side of the piece. But it seems to be crimped on the edge. As if a pole was once inserted there.FB_IMG_1592764083441.jpg

Looks like an axe that was later used as a log spitting wedge. Likely after the handle was broken it was hit with a sledge hammer. As far as age goes I would guess mid to late 1800s. Congrats and welcome to TNET!

Cool relic, congrats! :occasion14:
