Freezing rain couldn't stop BB and Me22!
So I have been watching the weather all weekend long and on Tuesday the weatherman says that today, Thursday is going to be cool but sunny. Well let me tell you he is a total liar!!! BB and I agreed to go hunting so I broke the news to my wife on Tuesday evening about the plans I was trying to make with BB trying to get her to at least say it was ok but that just wasn't happening.
Anyway today started out nice enough, sunny 39 degrees with a 10 mile and hour wind straight out of Antartica.
Along about noon the sky clouded up and I took a look at the weather radar and saw some precip heading toward Cape. I called BB, he was hiding out somewhere trying to get out of work, and told him it didn't look good. Around 1:30 the sleet started. It came down heavy for about 15 mins and then slacked up and stopped. Aroound 4:20 BB comes back into the office to "work" the last 10 minutes of the day. He calls me on the phone and calls me all kinds of obscene names because I am thinking about backing out of the hunt. Now this is probably our last hunt of this year and I really didn't want to back out but come on! 30 degrees with a 10 mile an hour wind and sleet coming down. A MAN has to know his limits. But then again BB isn't a man but a boy in a man's body.
So I changed into my detecting stuff and BB insists he is going to drive. I take 10 minutes loading all my stuff into his truck and we head to our new favorite spot. What should take us about 10 minutes driving time goes by in three and a half minutes but this time no police were reckless enough to try and keep up with the Crazy driving of BB. He has to paint his truck a different color each week so they can't catch him and I don't know where he gets all the license plates he puts on his truck and I don't think I want to ask.

We get out of the truck and it is a little chilly but we decide to give it a shot anyway. The first 30 minutes was fine. I was swinging the Beast and it kept telling me it didn't like the cold but I wasn't listening. I headed over to a large tree along the sidewalk and hear the sweet unmistakeable purring the Beast likes to make when it smells silver in the ground. I dug down about 6 inches and was having a fight with the tree's roots when I slipped and popped a root clean in half and a bunch of dirt and root parts and a coin go flying into the air. It was like in the movies when the bad guy drops a vial of something and the good guy goes into slow motion diving for the coin. Well the thing lands on the side of the hole and I think to myself, "Great another stupid clad quarter." I picked it up and noticed right away that it wasn't a clad quarter but a 1942 Silver quarter. It isn't in good shape but hey silver is silver. I walked over to where BB had a small fire going and where he was sacrificing a rubber chicken and mumbling some kind of foreign language and I asked him what he was doing.
He told me it was detecting vodoo and it was going to help find silver.
I told him it must have worked because I just found a silver quarter. I have never seen a grown man break down and cry the way BB did just then. I stood there feeling really bad as a rather attractive college girl came out of the building and asked if everything was okay. I told her everything was fine that BB had just broken a nail.
She said "Oh I hate when that happens to me, poor guy."
Well just about then it started sleeting hard. BB just kept on going like nothing was happenig but not me. I am not ashamed to admit it I was dam$ cold!!!! I stood on the porch complaining about how cold it was trying to get BB to leave. He wouldn't do it. And no I didn't whine like a little girl but I am going to tell you I did complain a LOT! I didn't have a hat on and my wife had taken my jacket out of my car sometime this morning in an effort to keep me from going out hunting.

I went up and stood on the porch and waited 15 minutes for it to stop sleeting when it occured to me that I had a hat in my bag in the truck.
So I walked out to the truck and put my hat on, my headphones, gloves and turned on the beast and went back at it. We only hunted about an hour or so and then BB got really excited. He found an awesome token! I hope he posts a few pictures of it. That is the sixth token we have found at this place so far. And it was really cool.
I found some other stuff, something I think goes to a fluorescent light, some trash, some clad and the silver. The one item suprised me because at first I thought it was a canning jar lid. But when I got it home I realized how heavy it is. It has some decoration around the edge of it and it is lined with what I think is lead, it is very heavy. I have no clue what it is.
Even though it was miserably cold I was hunting with my best friend and it was a great time. Next time I will pack some warmer clothes. I have to say I am very lucky to have a friend like Baldinboy that encourages me, helps me find great stuff and spots, keeps me honest, keeps me searching for that next great thing and gives me someone to pick on and make fun of and more importantly have fun with.
And hey maybe my wife will talk to me again by Christmas, or not. Hey ya think I can ask Santa for that
