Went out with intentions of using my coin/jewelry mode so I could find some rings. Well, my ears were sick of all the noise and no rings...so, my finger made it up to the menu and clicked on "coins." I tried folks, I really did!!!!!!!!!! Anywho.......found some clad, a car and some golf balls (not in the pic 'cause they're in the dishwasher). Still nice to get out! Was a bit hot though, but still nice! HH!!!!

I know what you mean about the pull tabs sometimes. It's just overwhelming when you dig 100 pull tabs in a row. I re-sized your pic using microsoft picture manager. I clicked on edit pictures at the top and then clicked on compress pics at the bottom right and then clicked on web pages a little further up on the right. It sure saves me a lot of time. Good luck to you.

OOPS, looks like I was beat to the draw...

I don't have it now, but when I had my XLT I used relic mode and had no problems finding gold rings and didn't have to mess with coin/jewerly. That machine is a good ring machine so keep on looking but remember rings aren't as easy as finding pennies and it might take awhile!

Still not sure if my coil is defective...thought cleaning everything helped but I to spent most of today in the c/j mode and have a ringing headache! :( My coil does not seem to respond lately to my modified programs. Even today in one of the dfx pro programs a surface quarter did not read second time in last 3 hunts this has happened. Whites has offered to fix the coil I am just not sure if something is wrong with it ??? c/j seems fine?

Hey Mountain biker, I don't have the type of detector you have but I do have a Whites M6. I've found 31 rings so far, they read sometimes as pennies, sometimes as nickels so I'm guessing coin/jewelry mode is working but you just didn't run across any rings. I've gone weeks without finding a ring then, boom...two in one day. Don't count your detector out yet, keep trying...they are out there you just have to pass your coil over them. Good luck.

What readings do the golf balls come up as. I have tried everything and can't get mine to pick them up. I think it's defective. As far as rings go, some places have them and some don't. The don't usually goes with the places you are sure that does. I have just finished a place I knew would produce rings only not to find a single one. Another place I wasn't to encouraged about produced 10 silver rings. Rings are like the saying about gold. Rings and gold are where you find them.

Looks like you did pretty good!

Nice diggs.
I find in my parks here, that theres a lot of trash, more than most anywhere else.

Keep safe...

Not that old some from 50's some from 30's. When I tried to hit an old house last week it had powerlines over it and my detector even after lowering settings was erratic that day and was not stable.

I have found when i encounter powerlines or dog fences or electric fences it is best to just take my time and deal with the false signals. If you change your frequency it also helps a little. I wonder if anyone knows of a way around that.

I have tried several things that seem to help...lowering sensitivity....lowering pre amp gain...changing from 3khz to 15khz....but it is always a battle....
