First Garrett needs to make it mud and waterproof.Washable, even under water...Get the bugs out...AND THEN they can work on the colors.

There is a video where a guy sealed his by putting electrical tape over speaker and the button and it solved those problems and there is also on E-bay a cover you can buy that will encase it completely.

I plan on doing the waterproofing like that when this thing is out of warranty.YouTube shows a
really good method using plumber putty and a rubber gel that will stay flexable enough to allow
pushing the on/off button.

You can spray then with plastidip, comes in different colors too... if it ever needs to be removed it can be pealed off like a skin....it is non conductive, I have used it in different detector mods.

Just cover any holes or switches with tiny piece of standard electrical tape to protect...

I'm not laughing I don't see that it would cost them that much to offer a highly visible model also it's a good idea. And the Ace series detector have bright yellow housings so that would be a color they are already having components made from.

Lot's of that available on our beaches during spring break.

Reflective tape is available at your finest hardware stores.

Garrett would have to do a market analysis to see if utilizing a different casting procedure, and the cost thereof, would be supported by a large enough consumer base to support the added cost of production, while still realizing a respectable profit.

Perhaps you could start a poll and then send it to the fine folks at Garrett?

I am happy the way it is. Black works for me when snow hunting, and covering it with another color for the summer works for me.

You can have your pinpointer in any color you like, as long as it is black. :headbang:

I want mine in a torrid fuchsia

And get ya some of those stick on jewels the kids are using on their cell phones for some bling-bling.

spray paint -- is wonderful ...and cheap.

Tape reflector tape to it,then at night, all you'll need is a flashlight.

Oh god. Not this again.....

If you have that much trouble loosing pinpointers why not attach it to a spring bungey cord to it and attach it to your belt.

You mean like this... Orange duct tape ftw ... but why not sell them in bright colors? View attachment 942968

Yep did the same thing, but the tape gets dirty and the adhesive from the tape is hard to remove. I use a ring that goes under the battery cap and a cord attached to my belt or pack.

My suggestion is that Uncle Jeff call/email Garrett, ask them the question, then he can post his answer.

Use a can of Yellow Plasti Dip. Under $7 at Home Depot or Lowes. Dip it three tips. It not only protects it but it will stand out like a sore thumb.

You can even try dipping the whole thing. Do the business end first three times. Then cover the speaker, button and light (if you want) with electrical tape. Then dip that half 3 times. You will have a waterproof, fully functioning banana of a ProPointer.

The plasti dip easily peels off when you need it to so it doesn't propose the same warranty issue that using silicone does. If you dip the whole thing you will have to remove the battery dipped section to replace the battery but you can simply redip the end to rewater proof it. Plenty of videos on Youtube showing people doing it. I dipped just half. It works great with no affect on performance.
