We were hunting one of the early houses in Ohio Western Reserve and this was recovered. Bad shape but details are there. It was unreadable at first and I am sure I damaged it trying to find out what it was. My first impression was some kind of "dandy" button. It is about the size of a large cent.

Now I think it is a George Washington button.. Opinions please?

It does look like the 1789 Eagle and Star George Washington button. Congrats on an excellent find.

Now that is something special. Much better than most chunks of gold, in my opinion.

Wow! Not many of those found that far west ! Not that Ohio is "west" by any means today, but 250 years ago, it was pretty far west.
