Gold and silver coins found today.

[Doug UK]

Put in a few hours PM today.

Not quite sure what some of the bits are, but I do know the Gold coin is Queen Victoria half sovereign 1892, the silver coin is possible 1500 -1600, it is very worn on the head side. Big coin is a penny of George the third 1760-1820.

Thanks for looking

Many thanks for your comments.

We have just started into our “season” the last few days over this side of the big pond. Around this area today is the first day I have seen the combine harvesters in the fields, at last!

amen to that!

The coin looks like a Lizzy (maybe). I haven't had a sovereign or half for some years now. EXCELLENT FIND. What a good start to the season.

Just checked my collection. I too found a 1892 half Sov. Sadly I remember its a Jubilee year so more were made, which brings the price down a bit. But who cares its a great find!!

Thanks for the further comments.

Due to English law and Welsh (?) I had to attend a Coroners Court in respect of a silver find I had in February 2008.

It went well, no problems.

To unwind myself after the Treasure Trove inquest I had a few hours in the fields at the back of my house……………… glad I did!
