Snuck out tonight for an hour and a half and hit the local school playarea. The same school I found a sterling ring at last week. Found a few coins, the place doesn't cough up many and some other odds and ends. Started looking at the area trying to figure out where someone may have dropped something and no one had looked yet and walked almost into the woods on the edge of the playground. Started swinging and immediately hit a 10 foot by 10 foot area of can slaw, pull tabs and foil. Then I got a crazy signal that was bouncing around in the low range on my Deleon and you could trace the signal for almost 11 inches in a straight line so I thought great more canslaw. Dug anyway and man am I GLAD I did. Pulled out this chain, intact, the clasp is broken so I guess as other people have posted before we can guess what happend. The only mark on it is 14k. I also found a small piece of junk jewlery a few feet away too bad the little pearls or stones that went in it are missing. Oh yeah found my first zipper pull in three weeks, don't have many and I think they are cool. Thank you for looking at my post.
Thought I would post my coin count since April as well: 333 Pennies, 22 Nickels, 68 dimes, 42 quarters, 10 wheat, 1 silver dime 1957, 1 silver quarter 1957

How do you know what something like the chain is worth??

Hello, that chain look kinda of heavy , looks like it gots alot of value, good finds

Clean it up fix the clasp and Ebay that sucker. or.......would make a nice gift for sayyyyyy i dunno maybe like your brother in law lol. nice find cant wait to see more

8) You're doing great, Eagle! Awesome gold!!!

Congrats! Nana :)

How deep did you have to dig to get to the chain ?

Nice going! Congrats on the gold!! 8) Probably just about halfway paid for the DeLeon by itself if my estimate is close. I'm ballpark guessing about 10-11 grams and roughly $200 if not hollow and clasp is fixed. BTW, if you have the clasp fixed, ask for the old clasp. They'll probably keep the broken one for their scrap and not allow you much if any off the new one.
Personally, I'd just keep and wear it.

Make sure you have them test it also....I frigin found a fat chain like that marked 14K in 2 places and it was fake.

Nice finds!!

Yeah knowing my luck the clasp will be the only thing that is 14k! ;D But I am trying to save to get a new detector and every time I hit the $500 mark something comes along and wipes out my savings, this time it was the front wheel drive on my car had to have both CV joints replaced and the car only has 44,000 miles on it. Oh well I will have it checked

Actually it was only about 2 inches under the ground. I cut my plug and opened it up and the chain just fell into my hand, the tail end was still in the back part of the plug and I very carefully got it loosened it and pulled it out. I had to sit there for a few minutes in total shock at the 14k mark on it. I did then put it in my pouch and sadly thought to myself, probably fake or plated. It is HEAVY!!

Well, I frequent playgrounds all the time..had some good ..very good luck on and off..here's my best find from two years ago, day after christmas..and then gold necklace and 14K cross medallion - I wear that one ..but other than that..just mostly clad..but never quit..perservere !!!! Enjoy!!!!
