Snuck out tonight for an hour and a half and hit the local school playarea. The same school I found a sterling ring at last week. Found a few coins, the place doesn't cough up many and some other odds and ends. Started looking at the area trying to figure out where someone may have dropped something and no one had looked yet and walked almost into the woods on the edge of the playground. Started swinging and immediately hit a 10 foot by 10 foot area of can slaw, pull tabs and foil. Then I got a crazy signal that was bouncing around in the low range on my Deleon and you could trace the signal for almost 11 inches in a straight line so I thought great more canslaw. Dug anyway and man am I GLAD I did. Pulled out this chain, intact, the clasp is broken so I guess as other people have posted before we can guess what happend. The only mark on it is 14k. I also found a small piece of junk jewlery a few feet away too bad the little pearls or stones that went in it are missing. Oh yeah found my first zipper pull in three weeks, don't have many and I think they are cool. Thank you for looking at my post.
Thought I would post my coin count since April as well: 333 Pennies, 22 Nickels, 68 dimes, 42 quarters, 10 wheat, 1 silver dime 1957, 1 silver quarter 1957

Nice finds, I found a chain similar to yours, 14k gold but mine was all bunched up and registered as a nickel on my M6. What was the VDI on the golf ball??? lol

Way to go eagle....You know, I think most of us find the good stuff where we least expect it to be. At least thats what happens to me...

Keep diggin'...

Makes me think about that long weird signal i got this past weekend

I might have made a mistake not digging it since it was about a foot long,

Hummmm I may have learned something here

Thanks

And congrats.

The funny thing is the last 4 times I have gone out I have found a golf ball. One time on a beach, a plastic one in the sand, one hit by a mower and then this one. No they are not all from the same place and no no golf courses are around.

I did contact the school to see if anyone reported losing a gold necklace. Didn't give any details and they said they would check and call me back. If I can find the owner I will give it back

Congrats Larry! That is beach gold material right there buddy! Hefty gold haul. WTG Larry. I hope this gold streak continues for you........just watch out for gold fever!

great find !! if it's real and your gonna scrap it i'll give ya a little more than the scrapper,, it goes perfect with a bracelet i just got.... ;D

Just got the sad news that the chain is plated, and very cheap. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Took it to two different jewelers because the first wouldn't even look at it close just told me it was fake. Actually in broken English he told me it was illegal. The second guy was nicer. Asked where it came from, stated it had obviously been exposed to the elements and that is was a heay necklace but unfortunately made of brass.

Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained. Back to detecting. :)

Bummer, sometimes it's really hard to tell without looking through a loop or acid test. Better luck next time.
