I know the Dakota boys are off the show and doing "all that glitters", but i was most intrigued at the end of last season by what they were doing. Anyone have any dope on how the waterfall diversion has gone or if it happened at all this year?

I won't miss Fred & his kid.
Heck even his kid doesn't have enough respect for him to call him "dad"

I am pretty sure it is his step father.... But maybe not.

that may be. I never heard either of them say so,
but they rarely act like father & son in my opinion.

& I only remember him using the word dad once,
but don't remember if it was to Fred or speaking of Fred

They did explain once that they felt it wasn't right for Dustin to be yelling "Dad!" across the work sites back when they were doing construction.

I guess some people get the wrong idea when they keep muting the show or are skipping parts on the dvr. Fred didn't claim jump. Toad missed a payment. Just like a foreclosure or forfeiture, so Todd's fault there.

Now on to Dave going back to Todd. Smart move because the show didn't tell us squat. You see those drill maps are not mentioned when Todd leased that claim. Those drillings where likely done by the current or previous property owner, and like Tony Beets they tell the story. Fred Dodge might even end up over there again before the season ends, just wait and see. That claim is likely loaded and with a proper plan, equipment and crew, there will be lots of gold to be had from that claim. However, it is more than a one season job to work that claim to realize it's capability. How much of that claim are they authorized to work and for how long? We really don't know. The owners demands seem rather high, but might be worth it for the opportunity to work that whole claim till the end, if they can get a multi season contract after this first season.

We are made to believe the Dodge boys are sitting on some real rich ground. However they aren't living on that claim from appearances and even Fred said they are just making wages. My impression is they are only working it part time as they feel like it or are able to. Two different types of operations going on here. One large and one small. The Dodge operation seems to be in no hurry and maybe it is more of a weekend type mine, not full time.

Dave has likely made the proper choice, and not likely in hast, as the show might suggest. $500,000 invest is peanuts when you look at the potential of a proper claim like that. Even with gold prices dropping, I'd guess that mine property has $50,000,000 potential over the entire property, or maybe even a lot more. Yes I did type what I meant, 50 million or more.

Parker, you better dig that bedrock deeper. You didn't learn last year that you have to do more than just scrape the surface of the bedrock.

Tony.....kick that pig, lol. I wanna see that frickin monster moving gravel this season, lol. Dennis

50M based on? drillings on a paper that you only saw on tv? or maybe a hunch like turd always has? How did his hunch work out last year?
he didn't choose that property to mine, it was the only deal he could find.
face it he's just a big kid with a dream ( and never a plan to succeed)

That's a whole lot of speculation going on. Again its a made for TV show, considering the deep pockets of Discovery and the investors. Discovery use to be a great channel now its all about reality TV. Just the last few years look at all the gold shows that have come and gone. Discovery keeps rolling them out hoping for the next big hit.

Exactly and as far as I am concerned "Yukon Gold" Kicked all of the others to the curb.

Now guys, don't get all offended just because I have a different view point. Yes I am doing some speculating here. However. are you so sure I am that far off? Just because of Todd's track record you assume anything he touches turns to crap.

My "speculation" is based on a few things. Yes the drill map is one of them. If that is a legit map for that particular property, I actually think the potential is higher than I stated. I believe old Todd finally stumbled into a mine with real potential. I could be wrong....or right. Question is can they actually succeed at working it and extend the lease past one season.

Yes I am guessing or speculating here, but I have a 50/50 chance of being correct. Based on personal knowledge and what minimal info the show has given us, I do stand behind my prediction. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens as the season progresses.

I do realize this is reality television. I'm not a fool. However, even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Yes, Todd ain't no miner. Yes, Discovery plays the drama card always. The fact is there are some huge claims with billions of dollars worth of potential in that country. However it happened, I believe they are on a property with huge potential. Now we just need to wait and see if they can figure out how to be real miners and make the right decisions with it. Dennis

Reed you correct. Yukon Gold was the best of all the gold shows. And it was not on Discovery but on National Geographic.

All the episodes are on YouTube. I believe it was on a few seasons...

Yup, 2 seasons of Yukon Gold so far. Whole episodes are available on YouTube for sure.

Spoiler: The mine owner is a publicly held corp and has announced that the contract with Todd/Dave has been extended thru next summer season.

I wonder if I invest in their penny-stock corp, if I could get a share-holder earnings report and find out how much toad is really pulling from there?

no one is upset Dennis, speculate away. That's the fun of it.

yes IF the drill map is accurate. IF it is accurate I doubt the property would have been so hard to lease. It wouldn't have been waiting for a latecomer trying to find a plot after the season started.

Certainly there is potential that it could be a good site ( as there is virtually anywhere) Gold has been found all around the world, and it's very likely that only a tiny bit has been found. Hear about the large nugget just found in California?

As far as turd is concerned, I don't dislike him personally. I just detest his no planning, no preparing, no idea ways. It's not a good model for any kind of businessman to go on hunches with no plan. Turd, get off your stupid walkie-talkie and get YOUR hands dirty, think ahead and keep your hard hat on your head!! ( hitting them together looks childish) Have a plan and WORK to get it done, don't be a kardashian who falls into money and fame for nothing.

are they not allowed to Blast in Alaska ?

Dave's Potential $30.00 a yard site

versus

Todd's $9.00 a yard site.

of course if they can dig 4 or more times as much at $9.00 a yard then
Dave who obviously likes to play & get stuck in the mud can.
Todd is Right to Trump Dave's decision to look like he's back in the swamp.

However, I do think while they are working the Gravy site,
someone should be Prepping the Meat

are they not allowed to Blast in Alaska ?

Exactly what I was thinking. Use all the test holes if they are still open or drill new holes. Only need to drill to the depth of the ice and blow away leaving the AU undisturbed. Sure they can blast, Parker and his Dad did a few years ago to clear and widen a road up into the valley that did not produce.

Todd and crew has done one thing for sure...moved a lot of dirt. But I quess I missed his clean out last eve???? Guess one of us was too busy.:dontknow:

yes I didn't see it either. apparently they didn't get enough to brag about,
with Dave busy playing in the ice and Mud

& Todd away who knows where again

I'm thinking Todd's claim was actually leased while Todd was in S.A. last year.
Discovery paid a crew to strip the overburden, drill test holes, etc.
Fast forward to this year's episode and Todd leases the only claim left in the area, with overburden stripped and test holes drilled???
Yeah, right.

Well.... As far as the blasting goes....

1st...Remember that they're in CANADA not Alaska so there's bound to be different rules in place. Parker and his dad were in Alaska and since his dad is in road construction it's a good bet that he knows and/or is certified to use explosives by the state/feds. If not him then one of his employees that wasn't shown on camera for what ever reason.

2nd... Really now....Would YOU trust Todd to play with high explosives on T.V.? They also may not have a QUALIFIED explosives man on the team and hiring one isn't a cheap thing to do. I doubt that discovery would allow them to blast without having someone with proper training and certifications by the government to do the deed. To many problems of liability with a stunt like that!!!!!

I agree that they should be working the easy stuff while they strip the cover off of that ice. Just getting it exposed to the sun should help melt it quite a bit. If it doesn't melt then do some light blasting, move it off the pay gravel and get to work on it.

My bad... Your correct.
