Gold this morning

Got out for a bit to try out my new scoop. I works very well! The only problem im haveing is the very small stuff that falls though. As you can see i did get some but not all. Im thinking of a sifter that you use to cook with and hang it from my belt untill needed.

Two camps on the stuff that falls through the scoop. Some people tackle the small bits by adding some finer mesh to the bottom of their scoop or do what you are thinking about - carrying around a smaller screen scoop.

Others like me, and I also hunt with a Tiger Shark, don't think we're missing much by letting that tiny stuff fall though. More than likely its a tiny bit of foil or an earing back or other no-see-um that's drifting around in the water.

I'm thinking about adding a finer mesh screen that I can put in my scoop or take out when there is a lot of big rocks in the area.
I know a lot of people wear nice diamond ear rings that I would hate to miss!
The sand is really fine in some of the places I hunt and it get aggravating to keep scooping and having it go through the scoop. I've added magnets to my scoop to catch small steel pieces (bobby pins, etc.).

On my scoop I took a section of aluminum gutter screen and put it on the bottom cornor of my scoop, it really helps.

Screen covers about 1/3rd of the bottom and 2 inches up the back side of the cornor of the scoop. I tacked it down with water proof glue then covered the edges of the screen with caulking so there are no sharp edges exposed to snag my wet suit........

Thanks for the tips and comments guys! There were 3 others at the beach with me that morning. All of them were golfing i think by the way they were swinging. I never seen somone swing an explorer that fast I too like the little diamond studs. I have found a few in the past. Hey on a skunk day i will take a stud or two. Btw take a good look at the size of that little rivet compared to the dime, small stuff indeed. The braclet was repaired once before, you can see it in the pic. It was found where the others were "golfing" hunting.

When I lived in the Bronx, 1960s, wearin a hat like that woulda gotcha beat up. A cowboy beach hunter from the Bronx, Hmmmm, Times sure are a changing.

Ya I'm a country boy. Born and raised in Tennessee. I just can keep the girls off me though. All the guys here ware over sized clothes. Jeans and shorts with no belt and hanging down to there ankles. Been living here going on 13 years. I have walked in some of the badest parts of the Bronx with hat and boots. I get more respect than hassle. I did have a run in with a gang member once. It didn't end too well for the other guy and since then word got out that I'm not to be messed with.
