Whenever you see bills on the ground outside, lick your finger, & take a walk upwind,
This story starts many years back, with me spotting a 10 in the gutter, then I saw another bill 20 feet away, and it hit me, THE WIND! I followed a trail of assorted bills totalling over $150, by the end of the block I found the source, there were 3 20s still folded together. :hello2:
I haven't had a repeat find like this one, but it's worth a 3 minute walk.....
Let me know if this ever works for anyone else!
Good Day, Herbie.

Shouldn't you also walk downwind as well as upwind? After all, you don't know if that bill is the first, last, or middle of a line of bills that were lost.

Good tip though. No harm in doing a little extra searching if you find a bill laying on the ground. :icon_thumleft:

The same idea but not necessarily the wind applies to coins found on the ground or pavement. Whenever you find a coin on the ground it may pay you to take a look around for more in the immediate area. There has been several times I found a coin on a parking lot and then found several more close by. There had been several not just one dropped by a single person so they scattered and rolled a few feet away. I've got a neighbor whose hill driveway is opposite mine and I find coins at the bottom of it all the time. I think it acts like a funnel and they wash down his hill with the rain to where it levels out. One place to always find coins is at a fast food drivethru where money is exchanged all the time and dropped. Regards, Chris.

Good Day, Herbie.
I did the same thing one day I was walking around the outside of a family business and saw a $20 then I kept walking found more so I deduced it must have come from the big road I might be able to find the wallet it came from and return their money all I found was more cash after $90 I quit searching for the wallet too dangerous.

Just heard on the news today. A woman in a donut/coffee shop found $500 that was just dropped. She picked it up and went home. Came back another day and got arrested for robbery.

Turns out the store camera caught her picking it up and she knew who dropped it.

So if you find a pile of $$ smile for the camera. ;D and do the good thing.

So the moral of the story is if you find $500 of a fools money find another place to get your doughnuts.
Or you should try to find the person that dropped the money but she turned around and never saw who dropped the money I can understand her reasoning she finds that amount of cash she really didn't know who it belonged to and going all around the man looking for more money should have raised some red flags with the man that dropped it he should have said wait a min I dropped some money took it out counted and said I dropped XYZ he should be charged with STUCK ON STUPID.
Dan thanks again you never cease to teach me something I would not have believed that had I not seen it for my self it sounds so urban mythy.

IF she saw and knew that the person dropped it, it may legally qualify as theft.
It certainly does morally.
Who knows what really happened, (only her)
I'd put money on her beating the charge either way.
OK, just watched the vid, she didn't see who dropped it, but should IMHO have asked the bystanders for an amount verification. (I would, And I would expect to return it, as it was obviously not on the floor very long)
I assume anyone who comments further will think about what they would do in this situation.
It's my opinion that LEGALLY, no crime was committed.
MORALLY is another issue, and hers were the only ones involved.
My face ain't that pretty either, life ain't a beauty contest. (to me)

My Mom & Dad were in Vegas. Went into restaurant in one of the downtown casinos. Mom found a wallet w/ several 100 dollar bills and some travelers checks. Gave it to their waitress and while they were eating an old man came back to restaurant looking for his wallet. He gave Mom a tip. 10 bucks.

My brother does beach/water hunting with his detector. While out detecting himself, he ran into a guy that just came from an issue that involved the guy, a loud mouth lady, and a cop.

The fellow said he found a ring with his detector, and when the lady approached him and asked him about metal detecting and what he had found that afternoon, he took out his pouch to show her his day's treasure....

The lady started saying that the ring was HERS... and the conversation got louder and louder. He kept walking and she kept following, yelling, and making a scene on the beach.... The fellow wouldn't give up the ring because he didn't know if she was honest or just doing a "Go for broke" Con job....

In a few minutes, the beach police got involve and the detector fellow kept saying he found it. The lady used the presence of the Police Officer to get louder and louder... Finally the fellow who found it turned, and told the Officer "I found it, and if it's really hers, she can go find it..."

Then he turned and chucked the ring back into the ocean and walked off...

We never show the good stuff when we are asked if we have found anything, even if we have had a great day, when asked, we both say "Not yet" We find it also helps to carry the garbage you find, people leave us alone when they see us cleaning up our finds! Red
