That’s a nice one, I like seeing stuff that is more artistic expression than made for utilitarian purposes.

very nice pendant. is that material a shale variety?
Never have asked a geologist, I think it is shale, it has the color and some weight to it Missouri has a lot of shale too, but it could also be a type of granite.

There are some areas that were occupied for a long time before white man showed up. Spanish traders documented a huge city on the Missouri River in the late 1670s where Van Meter state park is and you had the huge Cohokia Mound complex in East St Louis.

I had permission to hunt private farm land on east side of Van Meter S.P. and I hunted land west of St Louis, plus Central Mo area.

I was working for a fiber optic company and we had fiber between St Louis and Kansas City, and my job was patrolling the fiber route.

I met a lot of land owners and the company gave me cases of ball caps and work gloves ect to hand out. I sorta greased the wheels with the land owners to get permission, they were use to seeing me too.

Looks like a type of Greenstone. There are a couple of different types. One we have here is softer than the other.
