I found this token last year behind some razed houses. It stumped me for weeks trying to pinpoint where it was from. I could not find nothing in the Polk and Dunn directories under B.F.L & CO. However I came across a name in the saloon section B.F.Livingston, but that was not enough. I needed something that said B.F.Livingston & CO. I went to the historical society going through old business licence records still nothing. I even posted it in the token section it was there that gave me my first clue. (Thanks again Don). Well I decided to try one last effort went back to the county library and was browsing through the Polk/Dunn directories under billiard halls, there I found Livingston & Marshall. Still no & CO. So I came home and typed in Marshall & Livingston in the Utah digital newspapers and BAM there it was Benjamin F Livingston & Co I finally hit it. Some links are attached of the business. Also to the best of my knowledge this is the oldest known token of Ogden,Ut. 1887-1891 http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,216585.0.html

Nova, thats some very good research. Nice going and congrats on your token..........Rich

Great research, never, ever seen a slabbed and graded token before. Does that company id and grade any and all tokens? Frankly, I'd rather dig a token then say, breathe.

Thanks a bunch Rich. I'm glad I was able to find the & Co part that's what sealed the deal. Even though the info I had was good it just wasn't good enough for the pros which makes sense.

Thanks Curbdigger. I would of not had the token slabbed if it would of had the place of origin on it. I could of left it as is because I had the documents to back it up. Being slabbed however just makes it easier for identification purposes. I believe any grading service will slab and grade any token. Anacs,Ngc,Ncs,

Sweet token, great research and preserved nicely! Did you happen to get an "era" of that token? I have a maverick token that has the same shape and edges but mine doesn't have enough information to help me trace it.

The token is from 1887 -1891 I'm not sure what you mean by era. I know horses and carriages was away of transportation back then. Holding this token puts me back in those days. This is what I enjoy about this hobby the history. Thanks Wallhangers
