Will the current government shutdown affect the banks coin supply at all? Are some banks not going to be able to get extra coins from distributors if they cannot get them from the mint?

Most coins come from circulation. they are in warehouses un the large cities, or at the suppliers. Not the mint. the NEW coins May or may not be affected, but 99% of all coins come from a source that shall not be shut down. FYI

Shouldn't notice a change uless the shutdown goes into "months". Better fix for that would be trading this Pres with a Republican Pres--that would double the value of the $ in circulation and we'd need half as much....

Im more concerned with what itll do with the pm prices- so far Ag is dropping'

Oh please. Which party is blocking funding in a last ditch effort to stop obamacare? Pathetic .

Won't affect halves at all - they are NIFC.

Yep. If only we replaced one person with another, overnight, the heavens would part and wealth and prosperity would rain down on our country! All because they believe different things! If the last two hundred years have shown us anything, it's that our two party system is working and that one is grossly superior (and different) to the other. Because two choices!

It's called checks and balances and it's constitutional. And instead of a Republican president, we need a Ron Paul type president that will return us to the gold standard.

I find it amusing some people believe we live in a two party system. There are Statists, and there are people who believe in freedom. The Statists control the vast majority of our government.

In regards to the original topic, I spoke with a manager today she said coin delivery continues as normal.

The gold standard is a terrible idea. Have you seen how much gold fluctuates in price?? $1800 a year ago, $1200 3 months ago $1328 yesterday, $1287 today - you cant have your currency system fluctuating this dramatically - and that is why they did away with it!!!

How can anyone be so foolish to think a government shutdown is going to affect the coin supply. Last I checked privately owned companies, such as Garda, and Brinks, supply coins to banks. There are TOO many coins in circulation, if anything, a stoppage of the manufacture of coins for even a few years, is a good thing. Additionally the government supplies RECENT coins to these distributors. IF you want to know what the government shut down means, it means greater averages as there will be less 2013 coins in circulation.

50 don't attack the guy. He was just asking a question and there was simply no need for that

You're right, my reply was out of line for what he asked and looking back at it, it was very insulting. I offer my apology.

I just am sick of people having a "OH BOY, A GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN ITS THE END OF THE WORLD" type attitude. Like the media keeps saying over and over again. I hope the shut down continues, so people finally realize its not that big of a deal.

Yes it is. And then the high premiums kick in.

People trust what makes them comfortable.. This is why I never trusted my ex :)

Obamacare was ruled Constitutional too, but eh, who's checking when it comes to the hardliners that are keeping this thing going?

A RP type president would be great, but with most of the world being fiat, I doubt we can ever return to the gold standard unfortunately. It would cause too much havoc somewhere.

::)

I'm pretty sure I can guess your point of view on this issue, but I guess it comes with the territory on a PM collecting forum.

Anyways, there's plenty of room for other parties to sprout up, but since the two parties have a lot of influence, wealth, and base, effectively, yes, we are a two party system. I have the freedom to start a new party, but I doubt it would go anywhere other than the foil-hat section.

As was Prohibition. Just to put things in perspective.

That wasn't ruled constitutional; it was constitutional, literally, added as an amendment in the constitution.
