So I managed to get a day off of work. I Left the house with my metal detector, back pack for finds, a tree stand, a bow and a back pack for deer hunting. I was ready for some fun! My first stop was a house from the early 1900's I recently obtained permission to metal detect. I was not finding much in the yard so I headed for the woods. As I went down a hill in a ditch line I came across an old dump site. Nothing special but I figured I would do a little bottle digging anyway. After digging out a two man saw that was about 4 foot long and a few bottles, I flipped over a old rusted piece of sheet metal. That's when the so called fun began. It turns out it was covering a yellow jackets nest. I took off running like a mad man,but not fast enough. I was covered in yellow jackets and they were stinging the crap out of me. By the time I made it out of the woulds I was half naked and smacking myself like a ****** right in front of the house. I thought great, they are probably looking out the window saying what's this idiot doing? To make it worse I had to go back and get my backpack that was sitting next to the hive. After finding a long stick, I was able to fish it out without getting stung again. I don't even know how many times I was stung. I hit the road and called my wife to tell the story and she said I should go to the hospital. I said why, did you see a deer there? Obviously, deer hunting was more important. Anyway, I did manage to see a few deer and I made it home without killing myself. Back to work tomorrow.lol

man I hate yellow jackets

Can someone please demonstrate how to stay calm while getting stung by bees? It's ok little buddies. I forgive you for stinging me. I know you didn't mean it. Just kidding. I know you are right but somethings are easier said than done.

I agree with the part that says all females are capable of stinging. However, the part that says males quickly die after mating leaves out the going broke part.

Jackets are bad this year, have 2 ground best being dug right out side my house. I got stung by one a few years ago chasing me away from its nest I just burnt up lol. Don't run it makes them attack more... Or so I've heard. I'm still running.

I juss wanted to see a bunch of pics of nasty inflamed bee stings on terrified flesh, heck, its Halloween

Got stung in the hand yesterday :/ it still hurts/ fading to itchy slowly .. First time while digging . Darn bees!

Safety in numbers. Thirty times. Gas down the hole....after dark.

i had a close call once, stepped on a hive and could hear then buzzing and feel the vibration under my feet of them getting pissed, i high-tailed it outta there before getting stung.

Word of caution. When my youngest was 3 she stepped on a wasp nest in the ground & got multiple stings. When hubby took her to ER the doc told us that the chances of her having an allergic reaction to future stings are much higher after being stung so many times at once. Those little buggers are nasty!
