Was able to get out to a new site. A house built in the late 1700's. Was disappointed to see that 95% of the lawn was still snow covered and frozen. I am hoping by the end of the week that it will be mostly open. Didnt find anything too old. Was able to get a 1914 and a 1924 buffalo nickel. And a Navy button I am guessing civil war period? I will look in my tice book later to see if I can find a match. Its a nice button for the collection. My friend who was with me was able to nab a 1800 draped bust large cent. The place holds great potential, cant wait til the snow is completely gone.

Off to a great start Jesse. That has all the indicators of a great site. Nice button. Send a case of lobsters to the Tennessee Trio (not c.o.d.)-LOL. HH my friend, Quindy.

Thanks Quindy. I sent lobsters to my grandfather one time in North Carolina. The shipping was sky high. You ever make it to Maine and the lobsters are on me. And thats a promise.

hi mainer, how are you. my name is ben. i was just wondering what part of maine you are in. i am in bangor myself.

Great job, that 1924 is one of the nicest I have evre seen come out of the ground :icon_thumright:

I would say it's more than potential with those quick finds. I could spend weeks at a place like that as slow as I detect!
Nice finds. One of these days I'm getting out to Maine, my sister lives in Falmouth Forside.

You all are gonna tear it up at that site! :icon_thumright:

never seen that type of Navy there mainer ??? :icon_scratch: if an 1800 LC came out of 5%, I bet there's some more bust copper and silver there :o

Nice finds and good luck!

Thanks for all the replies.

I couldnt find a match in tice's book either Jeff. Its a 2 piece button which makes it later. Thats why I was thinking civil war period. I think this is going to be a good place once the snow goes. :icon_thumright:

I haven't looked yet either... just remember seeing some of the British War of 1812 Navy buttons with the same plain anchor w/ rope design

I just did a quick ebay search and I think your right. Though from the looks it may be way later then I was thinking.

Great way to kick off a new season. Hope you dig lots more at your new site. I'm really itchin to dig, maybe another week or two, if this weather holds.

That is the best looking Buffalo I have ever seen dug.
I like the button to.

Nice finds. Congrats on the button and the nickels.
