found this in Mt. Vernon , Illinois

we were planting a "deer crop" so me and my father were riding on a 4wheeler throwing out seed, and i saw it from the 4wheeler popped out of the dirt a bit.
there was 2 other stones beside it...i have them as well...might not be anything though but i grabbed them just in case.
this was found in my dads friends back yard lol..........once i gain a bit more expertise through my archaeology degree id like to go back to the same spot and look around a bit more.

i have confirmed this with my archaeology professor that it indeed a hammerstone...approx. archaic to early woodlands period.

clearly can see scratch/pock marks
in the 2nd and 3rd photo you can see a groove, this stone fits perfectly in my hand and the groove fits where my thumb would rest...pretty neat.
