Found all these on the hunt yesterday, they were all found within about ten yards of each other. Would love any help identifying any of the tools or what I may have stumbled upon with them all grouped so close together. Thanks.
You have some nice keepers in the mix but try to stay away from the ones that are limestone they are natural. If limestone isnt worked the texture will feel very grainy on the outside of them. Those look to be natural.
Rock: you think what looks like an ax head or hammer stone are just natural? What about the lines on the one rock? Here some more photos of what I believe to be a banner stone. Thanks for the reply.
The black piece with the hole through it is a very rare find. It's called a Bannerstone and to find one intact with no damage is rare. Other than the obvious Arrowheads in the 3rd pic and the Flint Tools in the last pic of your 1st post all the rest look natural. The Bannerstone though is a very cool find.
The banner stone is great, the one you think is a pipe stem is from a root of a tree or bush where clay and minerals formed around it. The other ones with the holes are natural stone. The very last photo is some worked stone nice finds.HH
Thanks for showing the Banner for us it is truly a nice artifact.
Limestone can be tricky as it shapes easy by mother nature in water ways. I spent a day digging a big piece out of a creek due to the shape one day just to be sad when I finally got it out and it dried in the sun. It was just a cool looking rock, lol. A learning experience for me. HH, rock
