30 degrees and no rain .... sounds like kayak weather to me I went out and hit a spot that gave up a few nice ones last year.
First find was this nice little quartz point it has a needle tip on it , it surprises me to find as many quartz points as I do here because there’s so many other materials available that are much easier to use but maybe they were not as abundant at time the point was made

I decided to go check the spot where I found a really killer drill last summer and unbelievably within 3 feet of the spot I found this broken drill

After I found it I was thinking man what a heartbreaker probably heartbreaker of the season so I decided to check one more area at the same beach before heading back and looked down to see this

Great finds! Too bad there was no complete ones......although it's always nice to find something. I'm thinking that fluted looking piece is probably a preform.

Thanks , I don’t think it’s a preform due to the flaking along the edges .... that’s something I see more on finished pieces rather than rough knapping on a preform

The drill or labret looking piece also has a Wheeler look going on as well. That quartz point sure had a paleo look when it was laying in the mud. The dark broke sure looks paleo to me. Maybe those better versed in flaking techniques can offer more insight. That shoreline sure is looking good. No telling what else is out there waiting for you!

I recall geradot showing laberets that were polished in the past.

I think there is two different animals in the mix here.

I think so , I believe mine is a drill but I also never considered labrets as even an option I would think they (labrets) would be ground smooth and the piece I found is not

Thanks, what do you think about the broken point as far as age / type

I wish I could help you there. I'm not familiar with most far eastern things. It looks like it was a much larger piece at one time before it was broke. It looks like a resharpened edge in that one pic. Doesn't appear ground,or is it?

I have a lot of those that would have been real fine whole, makes you sad

Got to looking around and for the northeast I found a Web blade that looks similar although it is only woodland in age

Most web blades I have seen from around me seem to be much larger pieces .... I was looking at Hardaway blades they are a possibility here’s a few pics of them
