An old farmer gave me this years ago, is there a way to date it?....any value?....I know there's a lot of gun owners here, would appreciate any tips on caring for it...I fired it about 25 years ago...would it be safe to do so again?..thanks, I hope I'm not annoying you all to much..

no in call to duty --the sniper rifle was a 1903 model springfeild (30-06 cal) a much more powerful weapon and was not a "single shot " type weapon but was rather a bolt action one which held 5 rounds----it was and is a fine weapon by those who know how to use them---Ivan

:D Wow, the memories this brought back. 14th birthday and every child in our family received a single shot 22 rifle, girls and boys. I spent more time with that rifle than anything else I have ever owned. I was always short on ammo too :P

Best christmas present I ever got was a 1gal glass jar full of 22 shells.

Mine was purchased out of the Sears catalog around 1965 or so.
