Today we popped back into the field of dreams (where I found the Philip & Mary coin πŸ˜†)

bit of a slow start, but we stuck at it, despite the rain and freezing wind!

All the usual big chunks of lead, musket balls, lead thingys, little bullets. A crusty button, other bits, some Roman Nails (?) and 3 gorgeous horse shoes 😍 but am very proud to have found a Henry the 8th Sovereign penny…. I guess Henry the 8th is such a well known monarch that to find a coin of his has always been on my wish list! So super happy with my coin tonight! xx

Took some more fungi pics, just because they are so perfect and so tiny! One musket ball is missing from the finds tonight, as I met a lovely couple of hikers and they were so excited by it, we had a lovely chat, so I gave it to them! πŸ˜ƒ xx

Congrats on the Hammered once again. :hello2: Great ID also blossom

#7 photo of the tire looking item-interesting
Not quite a full set of shoes this trip, I guess it would have had a limp just having one.
More of those Roman nails I see.

Now the 'shroom photo's-very cool & magical (but don't go eating those ones please)
The one reminded me of a giant mushroom towering over the little ones.
Showed the Mrs-Wow! Looks like a plane crashed-look at the reflection. (compliment)

Another great day out-wind breaker are a requirement now it seems.

Not sure but a couple of those mushroom's look magic.
2 Roman Nail.

The Hammered is a nice example, yeap getting a little colder. When the going gets tough....

Would love to know the function of those Lead cotton-reels.

A little info on the coin ….

Henry VIII (1509-47), silver Penny, second coinage (1526-44), Sovereign type, Durham Mint, ecclesiastical issue under Bishop Cuthbert Tunstall, facing seated figure of King on throne with orb and sceptre, two pillars of throne visible, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding, initial mark star (1529-44), *h'x D'x G'x ROSA'x SIE'x SPIA', rev. long cross fourchΓ©e over quartered shield of arms, C to left, D to right, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, xCIVI TAS DVR RAM'x, weight 0.84g rare..

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Henry, by the Grace of God, a rose without a thorn" and on the reverse "City of Durham."
Cuthbert Tunstall (c.1474-1559) a former student of Balliol College, Oxford and Scholar of Kings Hall Cambridge, actually graduated from the University of Padua in 1505 as Doctor of Civil Law and Doctor of Canon Law. He was made Chancellor by William Warham the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1511 as well as being appointed Rector of Harrow on the Hill. He became Canon of Lincoln in 1514 and Archdeacon of Chester in 1515 and in subsequent years was sent on diplomatic work overseas by Cardinal Wolsey. He was made Master of the Rolls in 1516, Dean of Salisbury in 1521, Bishop of London in 1522, and was made Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal in May 1523. He helped to arrange the Peace of Cambrai in 1529 which led to his appointment in February 1530 as Bishop of Durham succeeding from Thomas Wolsey. In 1537 he was made first President of the new Council of the North. He acted as one of Queen Catherine's counsellors in her divorce from King Henry and later after some hesitation accepted Henry as the new Head of the Church of England. With a subsequent dislike for the religious policy of the reign of Edward VI Tunstall ended up imprisoned in the Tower of London at the end of 1551 and deprived of his Bishopric in October of 1552. However on the accession of Mary Tudor Tunstall was given his liberty and became the Bishop of Durham once again in April 1554 on restoration of the Bishopric. Now in his eighties it was not long till Elizabeth ascended the throne and he refused to take the Oath of Supremacy or take part in the consecration of the new Archbishop of Canterbury, and was deprived again of his diocese and arrested in September of 1559. A prisoner at Lambeth Palace he died within weeks at the age of 85, one of eleven Roman Catholic Bishops to die in captivity at this time.

Love that hammered coin, a real nice specimen. At first glance I thought the other pic was a plane crash into three pygmy huts....with no survivors. Over here, the magic shrooms have a purple ring around the stem. After a few bad experiences as a young man I have sworn off all types...

Love the β€˜shroom pics. Huge congratulations on Henry 8th penny and thank you for the history lesson. Love the horse shoes, also. Way to go blossom and himself! πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Mushrooms is an art of correct identification, look alike may produce a visit to the hospital or morgue.
Many have experienced the highs of the magic properties of the mushroom-yet lots fall pry to the incorrect ID and end up in the emergency room. Consume this one and one will see white curtains and pretty nurses.

Fear not, we do not pick or consume any of the mushrooms we see! Strictly no snacking rule when we are hunting πŸ˜† xx.
