I decided to go out detecting this morning because Im trying to quit smoking. If I keep busy, I don't even think of cigarettes. With no plan in mind, I started driving around looking for a good spot. Hit up my one field permission and found the military button and the either cattle or mine tag. Door knocked one house and the lady told me no because she wanted to do it, fair enough. Up the road from that house is a 1902 house that I have hit before. Its actually where I found my first Barber dime. Anyhow, after digging a bunch of junk, I got a decent hit and it turned out to be a junk aluminum ring (thought it was silver at first.) Next target was the tiny red car. More junk and I get a wierd signal bouncing all over the place from 1-45 up to 12-47 and all the numbers in between. I almost didn't dig it because it was so all over the place but boy am I glad I did. As soon as I popped the plug, I saw the silver edge of a half dollar. Moved it out of the way and that revealed the dime and quarter. That makes 4 half dollars this year so far.

Jaysix, that's the way to grow the ole silver stack...3 at a time! Tell u what...that's 85 cents face value, which is very hard to achieve by today's standards. Looks like you have some really good spots out there, 'grats on the door-knocking, a skill I'm trying very hard to adapt to myself. Great saves!..Ddf

The main thing is to look presentable when you do it. I find its always easier to kind of chit chat with them about the property and then ask to hunt it.

I know I should not say this, but if I had a moment like that, I think I would of had to sit down somewhere and light up. THAT was a very good day.

Congrats on a sweet hunt sir. Nice looking Walker!

I really like the streamliner car too, but I like all cars...

Great assortment of finds!

Nice digs. How did your hunt with Jim B. go last week? Any more colonial?

Congratualtions on the relic and old coin shooting! :occasion14:

Way to go!!....excellent handful of goodies. Like'n it all.

I believe the red car is a Tootsie Toy. Be gentle with it, the tires become brittle and have a tendency to fall apart. Congrats on the 3 silvers especially the Walker.

Here's a makeup cover that I found last weekend in a farm field, it's just the top and was folded in half. :laughing7:
Love the detail on these pieces.

Dave

You must be living right Jaysix if you have found 4 silver half dollars this year. Congrats on the very silvery pocket spill!
If keeping busy helps you in your quest to stop smoking, I think that means you have a free pass to get out there detecting 24/ 7. Have at it!

Congrats on the half, but DUDE THE CAR!
