Any ideas on these lead pieces? They are around 1.5 mm thick and the hole is about 5mm in diameter. Could lead shot be that small?

Thanks ;D

Hard to say what those were. We dig lots of odd and end pieces of lead in civil war camps around here and with some there is no way of knowing what the person who messed with them was thinking or trying to make. Hopefully someone will have some idea on your pieces

Lead was a common roofing material, used for everything from flashing, gutters, to covering entire roofs. It's possible that these are just pieces from that use alone if found near old homes, or if found at camps, were cut up into easier to carry chunks.

Thanks to you both ;D

I was thinking maybe the roof material was a possibility. But then I thought the cut out holes were odd. It looks like others holes -all of the about the same size-were cut out at the top of each piece leaving the curves/half circle marks.

So it looked like they were cutting out these holes for some purpose.

But anyone's guess is good for why :dontknow:
