How long after starting md'ing did it you to find your 1st silver coin?

I am curious to everyone's anwser. Me, I didn't hunt alot last year. This year quite abit. All together I'd say 50 -80 hrs..

I know what you mean Susan. Every time a get a signal saying a 25¢ 7inches down I hope it is a quarter but ends up being a unidentified metal object (umo) lol

that's a good find though. I'm getting used to finding pull tabs. Hell I should save them instead of throwing them away. I could get scrap metal out of it. lol keep hunting you'll find them. I concentrate on objets 4 in and deeper. I get usually pre 1980 Pennies, wheats and when it's awesome so far silver dimes. good luck & HH

found my first silver in my local park about two months into it, two years ago! And have found about thirty silvers since! My theory is just when your about to quit for the day go another fifteen minutes....it really doesn't amount to much but its a theory! Dig all the pull tabs you can, for every 3,245 you dig one will be a gold coin! That's a rough estimate! Its just an all around fun hobby and have great time doing it! HH

I wish I could remember. That was 1976-ish, with a Whites 66TR (all-metal TR). I was just a pimple faced Jr. High kid at the time, but took it up and down the street to all my neighbor school friend's yards. My neighborhood's homes were built around 1958 to 59-ish. So I did find some silver in neighbors yards on my block. But can't remember how long it took. Within a few weeks anyhow. And I recall that it was a silver roosie. Woohoo

A friend of mine remembers that his very first coin, (and very first target for that matter!) was a mercury dime. He was handed a 77b by a friend to use. That about 1974-ish on an army base where they both were stationed. He walked out to the lawn in front of the barracks, turned it on, and his very first signal was a merc. Needless to say, he was hooked, haha

Wow I must be unlucky 2 years in and nothing yet. But I will be more into md this year. Better equipment and researching. I already found 2 wheaties in my back yard that my other detectors missed.
