So 40 years after we landed men on the moon and safely returned them, we still can't figure out a way to interview someone a few hundred miles apart without that annoying delay.....Jeffro said:Captain Loosechange said:Line of sight you say, huh..... Well when here on earth and the interview is between folks on other parts of earth they are using Sattelites, which with your explanation should be "line of site" and even a shorter trip to the sattelite than to the moon. Your explanation disproves your explanationJeffro said:Its called LOS- line of sight. Talking around the world has a delay because you have to beam a signal to a relay satellite and possibly a couple more before the reply has to come back the same route, doubling the amount of "hops".
Transmission to and from the moon were instantaneous because it was a direct shot, only at certain times though. There were periods when no communication was possible, and periods when satellite relays had to be used, and those same pesky pauses applied.![]()
My explanation doesn't disprove my explanation at all. You're thinking distance, not LOS. It takes longer to go a shorter distance because the curvature of the earth necessitates using a satellite for a relay. Sometimes three or four if its halfway around the globe. You have no direct line of sight and so you must use relays. These relays are the lag.
However traveling at the speed of light in a straight shot to the moon takes no time at all.
Sorry to anyone that is offended by my or any one elses "questioning" the moon landing. I am as red blooded, flag waving, proud American as they come, but I will not be blindly led. In all the posts above, I have seen no proof on either side, and I won't either, none of us can ever prove it one way or the other. We will not change each others opinions either, but we can have a healthy debate about it without getting angry. Thats whats great about our country, you can believe what you want, I'll believe what I want, and thats our right. Moon landing or no moon landing America is/was and forever will be the greatest country on this planet. If we faked it, it was absolutely necessary for the big picture of the times. Actually pulling off the hoax of the moon landing would almost be a greater feet actually doing it. I am not saying that we have never been to the moon, I'm just not sure we did it July 20,1969.

I don't know of a single person who makes a living from saying the moon landing was faked. On the other hand, NASA has exploded with the "true" moon landing, and so has the entire country. You definitely need to pic a better example.
