I live in a typical suburb so maybe that has something to do with it, but i always ask for cwr every time i go into the bank to get coins. And every time i ask the teller will say noooo customers dont bring in wrapped coins. Ive been to many banks in the area and have never got a cwr.

Are there some banks that are more prone to get cwr's? Do i have to travel to small town banks to find these bad boys? Or am i just missing something?

I wouldn't expect to find CWRs at a bank that has a coin counting machine. If they don't, then some customers must bring in coins. I don't hunt CWRs very much, but one branch that keeps them for me is downtown in a city, so no need to travel to a small town (that said, this branch's CWRs haven't produced that much for me). This branch told me that if I didn't take the CWRs they would be shipped out. Strangely, a different branch of the same bank in the same city told me that they don't ship out their CWRs and use them for change at the branch. Odd.

Whats Odd, is the banks I "thought" i was getting CWR coins from, I later found out they actually had employees rolling the coins. But its getting harder finding them for me too..One of my banks wont even take rolled change, they want me to dump it in a bag and wait a week to have it deposited in my account

Most banks with counters don't do CWRs for a few reasons:

First, most businesses get the coins. They really don't like dealing with flimsy CWRs when compared to nice shotgun MWRs.

Secondly, CWRs can be long or short. In general a bank doesn't care about being shorted a quarter or two or being long a quarter or two. However, businesses might and customers might complain about being shorted.

Most banks that I know of will "accept" CWRs but dump them in the coin counter whenever the customer leaves.

Coin counters are the key to availability of cwr's. None of the 20+ banks I frequent have one. It's very easy for me to aquire $1,000-2000 in cwr between just 2-3 banks. (Half dollars not included).

Try banks located in/near shopping centers/strip malls...

Dawg I says it once and I says it again. There really isn't much silver homie. It's part of the game. You might not find silver for months

Because your more likely to get an entire collection with cwr then mwr! Sure sometimes or maybe most times it wont pan out, but when it does you can find more silver in a few rolls then months of hunting.

........... Metal detecting you know out in a field swinging that machine...Some times it is a long time between silver finds................

Nov. was my first month CRHing, and in one bank they had a little over $200 in CWR halves. As the teller was getting it from the vault the other tellers started talking about the fact that a widow had brought them in as they were from her late husband's collection. My imagination started racing, and when I got them out to the car I started checking them & found 10 40% halves. Could have been better but it was still nice to get.
