Can anyone suggest some good books for refining jewelry fo the silver/gold content? All books or website links will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot guys.
I would just send it to ARA and let them do the work. They only charge 2% on gold and 10% on silver.

No if you wnat to refine precious metals out of cell phones and electronics that is completly different. Join this group: http://goldrefiningforum.com
read as much as you can, you will learn all you need to know.

A very interesting book you might enjoy is The Big Silver Melt by Harry Merton. It is about the largescale melting of silver coins back in the middle of the 20th century and while I know you are looking into the melting of jewelry this book will detail how much work is involved in any melting operation. Your library might have it or you can request it through Interlibrary Loan.
