OK...as you already know (thanks haupin!) 8) it's my birthday today. Hubby has ASKED me all week...."WHAT CAN I GET YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!!" And all week I have been saying..."JUST TAKE ME TO THE OLD BARN!" That's not a present he would say! And I would say OH BUT YES IT IS!!!

So I got up this morning----28 degrees out! Waited and waited for it to go above freezing. About 11:30 finally made it out the door and to the old barn. Searched by the old spring behind the barn and found lots of Liberty buttons. I assume Liberty overall buttons. The man who owns the place said that back in the day people would come to the spring and wash their cloths. Guess I found the spot!

Then on over on the other side of the creek I found..........1904 Indian!!! My oldest coin so far! I could not tell what it was till I got home and ran some water over it. I am so happy! And I am also happy to have someone to share my excitement with too!!!!! Gotta run!! Time for the birthday party!!!!

Happy Birthday Nana.......and congratulations on the Indian Head. They're one of my favorite coins to dig, and I'm often baffled that I don't find more of them. I think people liked them better than the "new" Lincoln penny in 1909 and they pretty quickly got hoarded away.

I knew from the finds you were getting, that an old coin was coming. I know there's more for you to find there. Grid off small areas...Use rocks or sticks as markers and first detect in one direction and then the other. You'll be amazed at what you find using this method.
