I dug a South Carolina buckle this weekend !!!!!!!

My trusty T2 LTD found me two really sweet relics this weekend. Not long ago I found that 1795 half dime and now this, what a year I'm having !! Here's a few pics. The buckle is just as dug other than I brushed the sand off it, found at over a foot in the ground. The navy was all of 14 inches if not more.The site was supposedly hunted out according to the owner, the LTD was smoking!! Hope you enjoy the pics!

I gotta tell ya,that is one of the top finds I have ever seen posted on here.I have a good feeling you know exactly what you have there,and in mint condition as well.I will be disapointed if this doesnt make the banner,but unfortunately most people have no idea what they are looking at!

Like Cru said, I think most of the Coin Poppers on here have no idea how rare a Confederate Item that Sweet Buckle is, the SC Buttons alone are great finds, the Buckles, rarely show up. Banner all the way...............got my vote..................now go find the other half!!

It's a D. Evans & co attleboro mass . This BM dates from the 1850's - 1880's. It was found along with several eagle buttons, eagle I's, New York & Connecticut civil war period state seals. Nothing post war came from this plantation site area in coastal South Carolina. It's a period button without a doubt.

Would you mind posting a photo of the back of those buttons? I have three books on buttons and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them. Some of the books don't show the back marks, only a description, so the picture would be a big help.

Yes very nice finds . I have never seen that kind of buckle but I`m guessing it is super rare confederate buckle. Congrats! Thats banner find.

Pete that is a once in a lifetime find all the way! I can just imagine a decked out CS officer wearing that during the war. Just goes to show that persistence and knocking on all those doors for permission, can pay off! I would not have been able to stop smiling after finding that! Congrats, my banner vote is in!

Pete, that is the most beautiful buckle I have ever seen. You are lucky to be living in an area that consistently gives up some of the rarest and best condition relics I have ever seen.
