I dug a South Carolina buckle this weekend !!!!!!!

My trusty T2 LTD found me two really sweet relics this weekend. Not long ago I found that 1795 half dime and now this, what a year I'm having !! :headbang: Here's a few pics. The buckle is just as dug other than I brushed the sand off it, found at over a foot in the ground. The navy was all of 14 inches if not more. The site was supposedly hunted out according to the owner, the LTD was smoking!! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Ok I guess I will be the first to comment on why it is not banner yet. I voted for banner on a find earlier this year and I was told it was not eligible for banner because it did not have pictures of item uncleaned. I guess they were wanting a before and after picture. This buckle is in such fine detail it almost looks new and the buttons look extremely clean. I am not doubting if dug or not dug but just making a note as to why it is not banner.

Re: I dug a South Carolina buckle this weekend !!!!!!!

The relics we dig in the South Carolina lowcountry come out of what we we call "sugar sand."
All you need is a tooth brush, and that takes care of any cleaning.

The buckle and buttons that Mr. Eles dug are EXCACTLY how they come out of the ground here.

It's a hell of a thing to be penalized by digging relics that come out of the ground looking too good!

I guess when somthing that clean is posted most people don't believe it's dug. Very nice buckle and buttons.

Re: I dug a South Carolina buckle this weekend !!!!!!!

again I am not accusing. Only commenting on why it may not have made banner yet. Please do not think that I am doing that. I would never publicly do that. I was only referring to what happened to me when I voted banner on a previous find.

No problem TreasureHound!!

I was just letting other posters know how our relics come out of the ground!

the relics do come out great in that SC sand :icon_thumleft: I dug there for over a year while I was attending school and a lot of stuff does come out nice there in the lowcountry. I think anyone can tell this is a dug find. Watch his compilation video on youtube from a few weeks back, the guy has found some incredible relics (and this wasn't one of them)

I see no problem with wanting before and after pics, but how does Tnet apply those rules to certain gold objects or jewelry that look nearly as good coming out of the ground as they did the day they were lost? I see several rings on the banner with nothing but photos taken after they were cleaned, with no in situ pictures. I am not saying those finds are not banner worthy, just trying to get an idea of why certain finds make it while others don't.

I don't normally post finds here on T-net., because of all the before and after B/S. I know what I find and that's good enough for me. If you want to clear up the above pics of the buttons and belt buckle, then take a pic of the backs of them. This will show the signs of being dug or not.

the back of recently rare dug SC buckle

Here take a look and tell me it's not real :laughing9: Some guy named [mod]no names please[/mod] on here says it and my 1795 half dime are fake. He says no way that they're too pretty and they're repro's and there's no way I found them. I take offense to his comments and wanted it known.Websites as this are here to view nice finds. Sure I could post up some of the garbage I dig but who wants to see that?? Anyway I appologize for the rant but it's pretty disgusting there are people on this nice forum with attitudes like that. I'm not out to hoodoo anybody with my finds and I realy take offense at some knucklehead bashing me for something rare that I've dug. Ok I'm done venting here's the back of my recent rarity 9 out of 10 buckle, look at it closely fake my arse! Same goes for my recent rare coin find. I was offered 10,000 from a coin collector from New York recently but wouldnt sell as I think it may be worth more!
