I FOUND THIS WHILE DETECTING
IT IS AMETHYST AND A VERY NICE ONE AT THAT
IT APPEARS TO BE WRAPPED WITH GOLD.
AND HAS A CLASP ON THE TOP FOR A CHAIN
IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS DIPPED IN MELTED GOLD
I THINK THIS SHOULD MAKE A NICE DOWN PAYMENT ON MY NEW WHITES MXT
WHAT DO YOU THINK ?
ILL POST IT IN FOR SALE ON TNET AND OPEN IT TO OFFERS.
i DID NOTICE WHILE RINSING IT OFF THAT THE GOLD WRAPPING ON IT IS VERY SOFT METAL.
MY WIFE IS GIVING ME A DEER IN THE HEADLIGHT LOOK ABOUT LETTING IT GO.
I THINK SHE MAY TRY TO PULL THE (IF YOU LOVE ME CARD).......GULP
I WOULD KEEP IT BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT ID RATHER HAVE THE MXT WOULD YOU.

Good decision!! I regret not having many of my old finds that are not around any more.

It's good karma too, kind of like your lucky gold piece... it will multiply with the required effort and some luck.

Great find R... best of luck out there!

Smiles!

That dime was my very first silver find
found it with a discovery 3300 about 4 inches down on the D river Lincoln city Oregon
I since have purchased a new whites XLT more of a steal i think
this old guy purchased it for his wife who wanted to take up detecting but couldnt figure it out...
anyway they paid 1000.00 for it with a hard shell case
and sold it to me for 450.00
its kinda sad that some dealer would sell them a XLT when they are new to the hobby that would turn anyone away from MDing. i told them that that was for a more experienced detectorist and requires some time to learn but i think i insulted them they didnt like me saying that i could tell but they didnt say anything.
oh well.

since i got the XLT a week ago its rtained every day but i did get a 1 hour hunt in
wich got me a hand full of clad...lol

In reality the X.L.T can be a "first',machine, just stay in the presets. It is too bad the dealer didnt give them a quik lesson, anybody armed with that can be off and hunting.

Fishingnut I had a killer idea , I'll give ya my backup XLT for it ! :) ;) 8) !!

Hey it was worth a try !!

Congrats on SUPERB gold find !

Happy Xmas

Nope no banner I guess.....lol
:(

I could well be gold - gold is generally found in quartz. Amethyst is quartz with a little magnesium, which gives it that purple color.
I looks like gold from the photo, but it may well be pyrite too.

That is an outstanding find, it would be hard to part with, but if I really wanted the detector, what better way to do it than use the find, but ya better find her something else breath taking to take it's place if you sell. ;D

Way to go!!!
