I found this near an old 1878 house.

It looks like a copper pipe with a sterling piece around it.
The design looks really interesting.
Its marked sterling on the silver piece.
Any help is appreciated.

Looks like it could be a water supply line for a sink/toilet, with a fancy sterling escutcheon plate?
