What kind of tips are you looking for? Where to buy one? Which one to buy? How to negotiate price? :dontknow:

no mostly what to look for when buying a used one, like look inside the box for water marks, ways to test, I don't wanna buy a half working MDT.
Does a tesoro detector warranty cary over if it is sold?

You could always bring a variety of coins in your pocket and fire the machine up and test out how it functions and discriminates. If they have a cover on the box or coil cover then they probably took good care of the machine. Why not purchase one new with a $300 budget? I must say the Fisher F2 has served me well and comes with a 5 year warranty. You could also look into the F4 comes with an 11" dd and manual ground balances.

The Tesoro warranty does NOT carry over when sold...but they are great in helping you out regardless of warranty.

-Buy what was a top of the line detector when it was new. Most manufacturers come out with a great design and the next several generations are the same with added bells and whistles that you don't really need like multi frequencies and fancy color graphics.
- For your $300, you might be able to pick up a Whites XLT that has all the features you need and more. It is a general purpose detector that has coin, jewelry, prospecting, etc programs built in plus you can add your own. It has the best pinpointing setup in the industry.
I have been using mine for over 12 years with no problems. Frank...
hand print-2_edited-3.webpPS: if you find one just take a quarter. Put it under the coil at 12". The screen should say quarter.

For $ 300 You can buy a New Tesoro with the lifetime warranty

All but three of my' eleven Metal Detectors were purchased from Sellers advertising on Craigslist and I got each one at a steal. If you check out Ads on local and nearby Craigslist sites daily or every other day, you will eventually come across an Ad for a great Metal detector at a low price. The key is to call or email right away, arrange a meet in a public place, check out and test the metal detector and if everything is good, then pay the Seller. Never meet at an unknown location where there is no one else around because you never know if the Seller is okay or not. If you meet in a public place, there is less likelihood of being ripped off. Before the meet with the Seller, do a "Review" search on the Metal Detector that you are going to look at. This will give you some good information on the quality of the Metal Detector and maybe some information on its capabilities. Of the three Metal Detectors that I did not purchase off Craigslist, two were purchased from Pawn Shops and one was purchased from a Charter Member on TNnet.

Good luck!

Frank
